UWS Rarity - Great Affordable Food!

The staff are welcoming and the service is exceptional. The food is even better! Chana Saag is a must try, as is the Lamb Gosht. We like the BYOB policy too -- it means you get great wine without having to pay 3x as much for it. Oh! And don't forget to try the Naan!

Best Indian Food in the Neighborhood

Fast, friendly service. It's BYOB as they don't have a liquor license, but I think that's a plus. Come and bring a bottle of wine to go with the absolutely amazing cuisine that's served here! My girlfriend, a vegetarian, has trouble in some upper west side places to find a wide selection of vegetarian choices, and the vegetararian indian fare offered at Alachi Masala is absolutely incredible!

    Best Indian in the Neighborhood

This is a great indian restaurant, which is saying a lot since most of the indian restaurants on the upper west side are expensive and the food disappointing. My husband and I tried it a couple of weeks ago, not expecting much given what we've had around here before, and found this little place to be a pleasant surprise. The food is really delicious, the atmosphere cozy, the service friendly and the prices are really reasonable. Great yogurt sauce and really yummy dishes!

    Wow! What a great experience!

We randomly walked into this place, and had a great dinner there. Everything was perfect - the food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I can't wait to go back. I recommend this place to anyone!!! You will love it here!

    Great Food, Great Service

We just went here for the first time and will definitely be going back. The food was great, the service was quick and very friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. After reading other menus on this site, I saw that the prices here are more reasonable than a lot of the other Indian restaurants in the area. We've been to most of the others, and they are okay, but just not worth the high prices. Alachi Masala has excellent food and is an excellent value. We loved the Hors D'oeuvres sampler and our main courses were delicious. Everyone was friendly and we left with a big smile on our faces.

    Really delicious indian food

We order from this restaurant all the time. Food is always delicious, especially the chicken tikka masala and the nan is really fresh. Prices are avg for NYC and delivery is always timely.

    Good Stuff

The visual atmmosphere is so so and thats the worst thing I can say. The food was great, the servers and owner were attentive. They care about their restaurant. The veggie dishes are vegan, which was important to us, so there was not the film of grease often associated with the ghee. The nan was tasty and even if you are not vegan I would suggest getting it dry to let the flavors really come out. I do not know of future plans but it is currently BYOB so swing by somewhere and grab some vino and Kingfishers on the way. The staff will treat you as if you bought it there.
