Family style home cooking , freshest salad and pizza ,
...., make sure to insist on al dente pasta , otherwise it comes a bit overcooked. A place i go to often to find a friendly staff, fresh salad, amazing pizza , great pastas( remember to remind them about al dente) and a great price.

best food in new york
Ive been traveling New York to find the best food in the city, and best overall experience. Ive been to many neighboring brick oven pizzeria such as Patsy's and Tottonnos and Nick's. I must say they dont even come close to what i had at Al Forno. The food was excellent, the pizza was delicious. the thin crust was cooked to perfection. the pasta is also fantastic. the service is fast and they were very friendly. i must also recommend the homemade tiramisu after your meal because its just outstanding. i left wanting more i highly recommend everyone gives this a taste.

Great value
Where else can you go and get a decent bottle of wine for under $18? The salad Al Forno is delicious as is the pizza. The eggplant dish is very good. The other dishes I don't love, but I continue to go back for salad and pizza.

Great pizza and salad!
The brick oven pizza is one of my favorites in the city- but I also highly recommend the siciliana salad-it's amazing and a good size to share when ordering a pizza. I crave this salad it's so good!

Absolutely delicious and soooooo worth the money! I ordered from them for the first time last week and they will be my "go to" from here on out! So good.

How does this survive in NYC?
I'm sure their thin-crust pizza is good. The pizza at the table next to mine looked good enough. That's obviously the way to go. Do NOT order any of the pastas. I ordered a rigatoni with pancetta and "fresh mozzarella". It was painfully obvious that the mozzarella was "fresh" out of a Polly-O bag, as it was flavorless paste, still cold from the fridge. They could have at least popped that plate in the oven to melt the pasty cheese, right? I never ever send things back- I think if you ordered it, its your fault. But paying $14 for this was too upsetting. The penne alla vodka I got was edible, but oddly sweet. The waitress, however, was very nice about the send-back. Again I ask, how do places like this exist in New York City, and why was it packed on a Friday night?

Great pizza and super fast delivery
I have eaten at Al Forno about a dozen times and plan on going back for more. The thin crust pizza is excellent and perfect every time. The insalada mista is my favorite salad in the city and I always ask to get extra dressing on the side because it is so good. I have both dined in and gotten delivery. Delivery is super quick. The only complaint about dinning in is the restaurant is a family place (i.e. always lots of children and noise).
