The food could have been made by a 5 year old: tuna out of a can in the salad, pasta sauce that tastes like its straight out of a jar, and so on... The service is awful: took over an hour to get our food while there were only two other tables, we were informed that the kitchen was backed up only after having ordered and served our drinks. the check took 25 minutes to arrive after we asked for it and our waiter blatantly ignored us after our food had finally arrived (clearly he was embarrassed realizing our dissatisfaction). I hope this place closes down soon.

My boyfriend and I went recently. I was in the mood for grilled chicken and pasta. Though they had both these items, the hard to understand waiter wouldn't let me have both..weird, 'you won't give me grilled chicken and pasta?' anyway, we ordered and the pasta dishes we did get were bland. He got a lobster ravioli that he never found the lobster in...I was hoping for a good experience and instead spent money and couldn't wait to get out of there.

We used to order in from Al Dente twice a week. It got a bit more expensive than we'd like, but we continued to order because we liked the food. We ordered tonight for the first time in a while. Al Dente's pastas are still $13-$16, but honestly, they must think we're idiots. The portion size has been cut in half. They're using significantly smaller containers, and the smaller containers come only partially filled. In addition, the food was just not as good as it had been. The meal cost $40 for two large appetizer-sized pastas. We don't like being taken advantage of. If you're going to raise your prices, raise your prices, but finding out only after delivery that you're raising the prices by halving your portions is just wrong. We're done.

Finally, we found a great Italian joint in our neighborhood. I've tried quite the lot and found Al Dente to be the best. A relaxing, nice atmosphere inside, and also GREAT as delivery. The pastas are perfect, and the chicken, while I have to admit, it's on the heavier side, is DELISH! Great UWS spot!

First time to Al Dente for Sunday brunch and it wasn't good. The waiter took a very long time to take our drinks orders and after not bringing them to us for at least 15 minutes, snapped at us for asking about them. We were not the only guests unsatisfied as the manager came out to apologize to two other parties seated near us about bringing out the wrong food and how long it was taking. When my sandwich finally arrived, it didn't come with french fries as the menu had stated but a soggy salad instead. Overall, not a good experience.

Nothing beats the lasange or lobster ravioli. Tried it for the first time last summer and have been a regular ever since. Good italalian is few and far between and though the place is small great little romantic restaurant.

I went with three girls and the food was decent. At the end, the waiter (manager) brought the bill and he wrote "suggested tip" of 20% there. We choose to ignore it and left the tip he "deserves".
