    Good sashimi

I live in east harlem so it is super difficult to find nearby sushi bars that i feel brave enough to try the sashimi. luckily, i discovered akita. i usually get the salmon and tuna (regular and white) sashimi and have never been disappointed -- knock on wood. hopefully, they continue the good service b/c the idea of getting sashimi from some of the other neighborhood options is pretty scary.

    Fast and delicious

First time order but I loved it. It was good and they had a super fast delivery! This is the first Sushi place that delivers in E. Harlem. Hoera! I'm sold!

    Never Disappointed

My husband and I have ordered from Akita numerous times and also eat in often. We love the sushi. The fish is so fresh and the special rolls are great (especially the fantastic roll). We've brought many friends with us and everyone loves the food!

    Consistently Delicious!

I was surprised by some recent reviews of Akita that were less than positive. While I agree their service could be more gracious, the food at Akita is terrific. My partner and I regularly order widely off the menu and we are nearly always delighted with most items. Having lived (and eaten!) in Japan for two years, I think Akita's sushi and side items are relatively authentic, fresher and tastier than most other small-ish Japanese restaurants I've tried on the UES. I feel good recommending Akita Sushi to others!

    So dissapointing..

I thought a name like "Akita" may have been more authentic than "yummy"... WRONG! They don't know how to make Japanese food. I can stand a overcooked kushiyaki with bottled Teriyaki sauce but when they make Entree wrong, it's unforgivable! I asked them to make it right, they said "well this is America" ...well, it's still Japanese food! I don't care if you are Korean or Chinese, if you open Japanese restaurant, at least make it decent! By the way I have tasted their sushi rice, I don't think I will ever order sushi from this place either. Needless to say I'm Japanese so I know when the food is at least decent. Well, you won't find it here.

    Shortsighted Service

My husband and I regularly ordered from Akita for the past 3+ years. On our last order, they forgot one of our rolls - we called and said they would bring it with our next order, which we were fine with. THEN, the next time we ordered, they denied the whole thing and wouldn't honor the roll we had already paid for and never received. Worse yet, they basically accused us of lying to try to get a free roll (after hundreds and hundreds of dollars of sushi orders and generous tipping in the past few years). We will never order from them again. We thought we were their most valuable customers - guess not...

    Very Good Neighborhood Spot

After sampling a bunch of the Chinese restaurants with sushi and being disapointed I tried Akita. Very fresh tasty fish, which is definitely higher caliber than a lot of other places on the UES. Not amazing, but very good with decent prices for a nice meal.
