Shortsighted Service
My husband and I regularly ordered from Akita for the past 3+ years. On our last order, they forgot one of our rolls - we called and said they would bring it with our next order, which we were fine with. THEN, the next time we ordered, they denied the whole thing and wouldn't honor the roll we had already paid for and never received. Worse yet, they basically accused us of lying to try to get a free roll (after hundreds and hundreds of dollars of sushi orders and generous tipping in the past few years). We will never order from them again. We thought we were their most valuable customers - guess not...

Very Good Neighborhood Spot
After sampling a bunch of the Chinese restaurants with sushi and being disapointed I tried Akita. Very fresh tasty fish, which is definitely higher caliber than a lot of other places on the UES. Not amazing, but very good with decent prices for a nice meal.

A real delight
Me and the wife decided to try this place after finding a $10 off coupon in our mailbox. We had saki, bento boxes and ice cream for dessert. It was great stuff. We also like Akita because it is smaller and more intimate than other Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood.

Great sushi
I have eaten "in" and also ordered "out" many times. All have been excellent experiences. The Manhattan Rolls are fabulous! Since they have a crispy topping, they can arrive a little less crispy than when dining in because they "steam" a little in the container during transport. Regardless, I never miss the Manhattan Rolls. It is a great hidden gem on the UES. M

Love this place
Akita is great. The food, the atmosphere, and the service are all fantastic. I've eaten here for the past 2 years and actually rank it in my top 3 sushi places in the city. A little pricey for being on 91st street, but the rolls are great and the dining experience is always great!

Great Neighborhood Sushi!
I've been ordering from Akita consistently for 3 1/2 years. They always give great service both in person and if delivered. They give extras, like fruit with your meal. The rolls are always inventive and they frequently have special rolls in addition to their regular menu. The sushi is always very fresh and tasty.

don't write "do not order delivery"
You shouldn't write "do not order delivery" simply becuase you have had bad expereiences with this place. According to your post, you should have written "do not order delivery if you have special dietary needs". Not everyone does, and a lot of these small places aren't accustomed to dealing with them. I'm sure they didn't mean any harm. As far as I'm concerned, you only had one bad experience ordering the one where they didn't send the complimentary california roll. They offered you two for the next order, so it appears they're taking care of business just fine.
