Great BYOB place!
Nice BYOB place. Prices are decent. They accepted the BYOB with no problem, just a $15 minimum for everyone to have it, which I spend anyway. Unlike other BYOB sushi places with their weird BYOB rules, this was straight forward. The place is small, but they were able to accommodate our group of 10 with reservations on a Saturday. Food tasted good. Probably not the best sushi I've ever had, but worth the trip, especially with our own beer, sake and wine. Will definitely go back!

Great sushi / value for the money
This was my favorite "neighborhood" sushi restaurant when I lived in Stuy Town dating all the way back to 2008. Even though I've long since moved 20+ min away, I still make it a habit to go back every six months or so as the sushi is delicious and the proprietor very friendly. The prices are well worth it for the quality. Service is just so-so as there has been some turnover, but as long as you're not in a hurry, it's well worth a visit. Small place with limited seating, so I'd call ahead with more than four people.

Cluttered and Not Clean
I was looking for a Sushi restaurant on my way to Laguardia. Found this place on the net ... ratings looked promising. Table at the shushi bar was clutered ... bathroom was so unclean I almost couldn't go. The place really looks drab. The sushi, at best, was mediocre.

Not a day goes by.........
I went there for my 5th year anniversary. Although we didn't get to try out their buffet since we got there late. we ordered to take home. and oh my gosh. I fell in love with the "mountain rolls" its sooo flavor-able and juicy. Not a day goes by without me thinking about having another bite. I stare at their menu that i took home..hehe but i so would recommend this place to all the sushi lovers!

Very Subpar Food- Don't bother.
I would not reccommend Akina for sushi or 'hot' food. I had a bento box and the food was nearly inedible. A waste to go here when there are so many excellent sushi restaurants in the city.

Best sushi place
Each piece of sushi. it's absolutely worth it though - this is my favorite sushi place , i go there 3-4 times per week. a lot of creative items and fish there a very very fresh!
