Fish not fresh, edamame too hard, kani salad was gross. Chicken teriyaki was too sweet, tuna tartar was disgusting, looked like balls of mashed tuna. Only thing that was good was the GREEN SALAD. Veggie rolls were decent

Fresh fish, innovative cuisine, attentive service. I've been to many Japanese restaurants in the city, but this is my favorite for an unpretentious, yet exciting, meal.

I'm actually sitting in reaturant for lunch now..pretty dissappointing seeing that I'm reviewing rather than eating. First off their lunch special is only M-F. I ordered the bento box for lunch (paying dinner price). The cali rolls taste old, the salad is just iceberg lettuce with ginger dressing and the salmon is dry. Also the rice taste like another customer's leftover. The shumai is good though. Oh yeah & I had to go find my waiter to get chopstix. They left me with a fork.. I was the only Asian here and everyone else had chopstix! If you're in NYC there is WAY better Japanese than Aki!

Sushi is like life, it’s about balance. Fish (neta) and rice (shari) has to be balanced. Shari must not over power neta. In this case, the rice was tough. The shari (rice) last night was not acceptable especially coming from Japanese own sushi restaurant and the chef is Japanese. I do understand if chef is not, or not-Japanese sushi trained chef offer such kind (Mostly from non-Japanese sushi restaurants and especially Chinese own sushi restaurant with 50% off on some days). The sushi I had last night was equally poor as non-Japanese sushi place except the price.

The portions were big, which is good, and they tasted good enough, but I've definitely had better. I'm always up for sushi so when my cousin was in the mood for it after watching a movie, we decided to hit this place up. My other cousin had noodles, and she said they were pretty good too. Service was fast; That's a plus.
