Great Turkish Food
The food at this place is great. The service was AMAZING. These guys sweep crumbs up from your table, never let your glass go empty and even know when you want to go to the bathroom. The food was fantastic although I wasn't impressed with the type of bread (which wasn't the flat bread) that they served. Serving sizes are decent.

Great Food ..
Had a wonderful lunch at Akdeniz. Everything was extremely fresh tasting. It was one of the places you'd say, if you want good falaffel, go here - or whatever authentic dish you want. (Yes, the falaffel was actually really, really good) The service is very rushed though and the waiter warned us of that. Definitely don't go here if you want to have a long, lingering lunch. The space is small, so they try to get you in and out. The food was amazing and such a great value. I can't wait to go back.

Still the best
Good Friday was our 5th visit to Akdeniz from Canada. This was the 2nd time we had brought friends with us to dine. The doner was, as usual, wonderful, as was thr cigara borek and the cacik. The waiter we had, while not a Turk, was very pleasant and made our experience even better. Our friends loved it and even made the comment that it was the best Turkish meal they had eaten since leaving Istanbul. For us one of our main reasons to visit New York is Akdeniz. My husband and I own a restaurant and appreciate the effort that is put into making Akdeniz a special experience. Ellinize saglik!

Ok - but not allowed to linger!
After reading good reviews, took family to lunch in this restaurant. Attentive service to start with, and fine having our well-behaved children there. But when we'd paid and were just preparing to leave, a waiter came over and told us to hurry up and leave as he had other people waiting. We were not taking a long time, and this spoilt the experience for us. Lentil soup was delicious. Rest of food ok.

yum!
we had the pri-fixe dinner option. the appetizers were delicious, had the cacik and the eggplant with sauce...it came with bread that was warm and tasty. the only problem I found was that the options for vegetarian entrees were few. I had the vegetable casserole and it was only okay. the kadayif was good!

deeeelllish!
How refreshing-- a restaurant in midtown where the service is great and unpretentious, the food is even better and in good portions, and the prices are very, very reasonable. Salads are fresh and the bread brought to the table is wonderful. The baklava is great for dessert. I would go back to this place in a heartbeat.
