Very disappointing
I went during here for dinner for my birthday during Restaruant Week, but ordered off of the regular menu. The portions were small (we thought maybe we were served the Restaurant Week portions even though we were paying full price) and the service was terrible (waiter disppeared for long periods of time, brought out the wrong dishes, forgot to bring us our drinks and then pretended we never ordered them when we asked him about it). I will not be going back.

Fantastic Atmosphere - Bad Food
Went to this place for Restaurant Week. Decor is fabulous as is well documented. We ordered two bottles of some French wine which was really good as well. Service was mediocre. The greeters/servers were polite and helpful...I mention this simply because I was expecting arrogance as many others stated. Food itself was not worth it at all. I ordered the chicken which comes with mashed potatoes. The piece itself was not high quality - it had a rubbery texture to it. The mashed potatoes were even worse. Super starchy. I would guess that the Sushi is probably far better so if you must go - might want to stay away from their main entrees.

Eclectic Atmosphere.
I celebrated my 25th with a party of 7 and was seated at one of the cicular tables at the center. The decor is trendy, elegant, eclectic. The amazing music in the background just adds to the chilled yet funky atmosphere. I don't remember the drinks being that special but we ordered family appetizer (very pricey) and the caviar was delicious! The sushi for main entree was "okay" since i have tried better sushi elsewhere. But like most trendy restaurants go in the city, you are paying big bucks for the interior than the food.

Buying atmosphere...
I went there, and might go back knowing I'm not going for the food. The food is fine and, in fairness, we just had apps, sushi, drinks and dessert -- no main entrees. The miso cod app was very small and not worth $15. The sushi is fine but at $5-6 per piece really much of a value...With tip for 2 it was $170 in large part because of 4 x $14 per drink. Great vibe, good bar scene but nothing special on the food front.

Amazing Decor, Great Service, Good Food, Great Drinks
Ajna is your typical meatpacking bar/lounge/restaurant. I must say, the decor was amazing: I loved it. The food was okay. I did the restaurant week menu. The scallops with brown rice were kinda bland. However, I also ordered the thai chili spicy tuna. It made up for it. My friends ordered the beef short ribs which weren't great, but the tiger shrimp curry (which I had)was amazing. The dessert (molton chocolate cake) was also great. The best part of the food/drinks were the drinks themselves. Although pricey, they were just the right strength. Not too overpowering, but you could still get a buzz going. The service was pretty good as well. All in all, not a bad experience. A bit overpriced for the food you get, but hey, you're paying for the rent and the decor as well.

Surprisingly poor
the price - value balance is just not there for this places. the food is mediocre and the drinks are just ok while the pricing is comparable to excellent dining and clubs in the city. the only thing this place has is atmosphere. would not recommend
