AJ Maxwell's Steakhouse (CLOSED)

we went recently to aj maxwell's for dinner and found the service to be really poor. case in point, the waiter left to go home in the middle of our meal and didn't inform anyone else to take over our table. nor did the waiter tell us that he was leaving. so after his disappearance, we waited around 45+ minutes for someone else to notice that we were left alone without service. and the person taking over the table didn't even try that hard to cover the table, we felt it was more of a pity. It seems like the management still has quite a few issues to shake out before I feel comfortable using them for any personal or corporate functions. the food was decent. the price was average for other steakhouses in the area. there's nothing compelling about this restaurant. I won't be returning.

I took a first date here and they treated us very well. I got the bone-in sirloin and it was buttery and delicious. I'd say right up there with Peter Luger's. We had the seafood combo appetizer which was pretty good, the lobster was a little small but the oysters made up for it. I'd go here again if someone else was buying!

I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but I wanted to see what people were saying about this place. I, along with several of my clients went there for dinner a few nights ago and we had a FANTASTIC TIME. The service was top notch, the food was fantastic (can't expect less for $40 buck steak) and the wine was reasonable. As far as the noise? IT'S A STEAK HOUSE! The place is split between fine dining and an open seating bar, we went on a Thursday night and like most steak house/restaurants it's was ALIVE and thankfully not quiet...if you're looking for a boring, quiet place to eat, don't go there, but if you're looking for a place that is again, alive and enjoyable, then AJ's is your place.

We were celebrating my husbands 45th one day late due to time problems. Rib eye was terrific. Salmon very good and generous portion. Wish sides weren't extra but they were enough for two people and flawless. I asked for extra lemon for broccoli and a plate with four halved lemons in cheesecloth arrived @ table...No tiny slippery slices here. Soups excellent too. I had a perfectly prepared Onion au gratin and my husband had pea which he said was very good. We finished up with cappucinos and key lime pie (which was very light and not overly sweet). Bill was in line with what we usually spend for special events. This is not a place for everyday but certianly reasonable for midtown manhattan. Reservations with Lee were flawless . both he and our main waiter Mario( a charming and funny cubano) made us feel like regulars. Diningroom got a bit noisy toward the end of our meal but we take that to mean it is a popular place. Definitely a positive. One caveat:: This is not the place for children or large crowds but positively THE location for a great meal @ reasonable prices. Thank You , Thank You, THANK YOU!

I had dinner there last night. The Porterhouse was out of this world. The service was great. I am so happy that I went there by accident. The place is gorgeous and I was astonished to find out that they have private party rooms. I will definetely go back and Highly Recommend the Place.

The rib eye was the best ever big bone on steak just like the big likes it the sides were great and the service was A-1. I'm going back soon

I am very picky and i have been to many Steakhouse, this place wow all i can say is wow - from Steak to Seafood to amazing salads and wine list - wow - service prompt and very friendly. They accommodate everyone equally. I love this place after work or on the weekend.
