Nice place! very poor value.the Lobster salad was so small, I thought they had to split a Lobster for the entire evening.,& it was $24! my Rack of lamb came cold. The plate however, was warmer than the meat. By the time it was brought back to me , my wife had already finished her also lukewarm but tasty Sea Bass.I was offered a free glass of wine, but the damage was already done! Very Sad Meal!

Great food, just not enough of it

Rating would be higher if portion sizes were about 10%-20% bigger. Agnolotti with veal ragu & butternut squash puree was otherworldly but I wanted more. Butter poached lobster amounted to half a tail and a few claw slices. It was sensational but gone too quickly. Still, I left much poorer, and still a little hungry...an all too common feeling. Also, I wonder if they will be around in a year....space is enormous and only half full on a Saturday night. Perhaps they will if they continue minimizing their food costs.

    was hoping for more

based upon all of the reviews, I was hoping for greatness; what I got instead was a solid meal in a very nice setting, but the price fix left me hungry on the way home.

    small portions-- big bucks

Great food if you are not hungry. Drinks expensive and small serving of wine in large glass. Great for a date , trying to impress but for married people who are hungry.

    A Winner

The great thing about the NYC restaurant scene is that because so many restaurants open up every year, chances are a few will be a winner. Ai Fiori is just that...a winner. I loved that the prix fixe menu enabled me to try four courses and each one was delicious. The starter of lobster salad was completely different from what you would think and thankfully so. Topped with a thin layer of celery root it was fantastic. The same goes for other starters too. The pastas to no surprise also stood out. One in particular was the spaghetti with crab which I 'm happy to report was made the way it should be made. Full of crab and cooked al dente it was terrific. Mains which included a plump, perfectly cooked veal chop and expertly prepared branzino rounded out the next course. Lastly, dessert which doesn't always thrill me made me a believer again as they really hit the spot. The bottom line is I can't wait to go back and try other dishes that I didn't have the opportunity to try on this visit. Don't we always love a winner.

    Wonderful restaurant!

Exquisite dinner tonight at Ai Fiori. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic: lobster veloute with big chunks of lobster and black truffles; soft cooked egg with lobster (again), crispy sweetbread; gnocchetti with crab, breadcrumbs and sea urchin (couldn't really taste the sea urchin--but the dish was delicious anyway); lobster (yes, again and a huge portion) with root vegetable fondant and chateau chalon sauce--one of the best lobster preparations; and for dessert: sformato (chocolate mousse-like cake) with stracciatella gelato and lemon honey--yummy! Look forward to many return visits. Definitely deserve the three stars from the NY Times

    reliably above-average fancy food

Went there last nite, we all had the $79 pre-fixe which makes the value fair....but the food was very good, but not great. The dover-sole was salty, the lamb shank was full of gristle. The pastas were very good though. What really surprised us was the amuse before our food, parsnip-honey-unripe grape? soup. It's only a small sip, but we all wanted more...! And the sommelier is great at finding/suggesting when we are unable to explain what we want. Overall, great hotel-restaurant....but not dying to return.
