    great food slow service

My wife and I love this place the food is so good, however the service can be a bit slow. I would have to say that for the money this is one of the best Indian restaurants around.

    Great restaurant

Really enjoyed the food at service. I have already been there twice and the food was delicious every time.

Dont listen to the last review..

this is truly a wonderful little restaurant. Its perfect for a date or a business meeting. Every time i visited the place, the waiters were overly kind, funny, and polite. If there was ever a mix-up they corrected it right away (they are humans you know). I recommend that you try it all here but you should definately order the garlic nan (bread). Take my word for it- if you can find it, go inside and eat! you wont be dissappointed. I've single handedly introduced dozens of my friends to this place. It was the first time they've tried Indian food. Since then, every single person has asked me since when we would go back.

    Was I disappointed!

After eating at Agra many times before and thoroughly enjoying it, I hesitate to write this review. My husband and I went to Agra last Saturday night. The restaurant was moderately crowded but we had no trouble being seated and our waiter came over promptly. He asked if we wanted anything to drink and my husband ordered a beer. Usually the beer is served in a chilled glass and looking around, we saw that other patrons had their frosty glasses on the tables. When the beer arrived, the glass was not chilled and before we could ask the waiter why, the waiter disappeared not to be seen for at least another 10 minutes. We nursed our drinks while we waited for dinner. My husband ordered his favorite, Chicken Tandoori and I ordered Chicken Biryani. It was clear that the restaurant was getting busier as the hour went on. It was also clear that there was very little help to accomodate the numbers of people. We waited more than 50 minutes to get served and when we did, my dish was wrong and my husband's Tandoori chicken, which always comes out sizzling with onions and peppers , came without any of the vegetables. Served along with his chicken was the lumpiest basmati rice that we ever had! After having to wait another 15 minutes for my dish to arrive ( my husband ending up eating his while I was waiting), I finally got the meal I ordered but again the chicken was mixed in with lumpy, sticky rice. We are hoping that this was just an off night for the restaurant. We are going to give Agra one more try in hopes that this was just a fluke. If we find that things get screwed up again, we will cross it off our list.

    Great local favorite!

A hidden gem in the east 60s! The staff at Agra (especially jason) makes you feel at home. The food is excellent with proper sized portions.

    An Excellent Hidden Gem!

Agra serves some of the best Indian food I've found since moving to NYC. My girlfriend and I dine here frequently on our way to Columbus Circle. The aloo chana is excellent and the vegetable vindaloo is wonderfully spicy. Unlike many Indian resturants I have visited, soup and a number of other side dishes come with the entree. Agra is also one of the few places I have found that makes a whole wheat naan. The atmosphere is also fairly unique situated on the second floor of an apartment overlooking Lex. Getting a window seat always insures one a nice bird's eye view of the teeming street below. Finally, I'm always impressed by the waiter's ability to bus an entire table full of dishes in a single trip without the use of a tray!
