Agnanti Meze (CLOSED)

As a native of Astoria and current resident of Brooklyn, I was happy to see that the famous Agnanti in Astoria had a cousin in Bay Ridge. I made a reservation for eight for a Friday night in April. When I got to the restaurant, I mentioned we would be 9 and needed another table. The hostess said, "Do you really need another table?" The place was dead at 7 pm on a Friday. She should have just offered to put another table out. One person ordered salmon and asked that it be cooked medium. He ordered the salmon from the menu--it was supposed to come with tomatoes and cheese but he got plain salmon. When he asked for the topping, this rude hostess said he wanted special salmon. He said, "Just because I asked for it cooked a certain way doesn't mean I didn't want the topping." She got him the sauce with a side dish of her attitude. Finally another person asked for parmesan cheese for his beans--granted this was a mistake on his part. The hostess however replied, "This isn't an Italian restaurant. Do you want feta?" She is just rude and the food was mediocre.

Everytime I visit Agnanti in Bayridge I remember my mother. Authentic Greek food, in great portions, which I am really surprised someone would ever say there portions were small. The staff is like family to me since I frequent their so often, to hear someone say that anyone of those servers can be rude to any customer is absurd.No wonder that reviewer said they were rude he probably has no people skills and is on the internet all day. In any case, the food is wonderful. Try the shrimp katifi, dolmades, and the Ntakos. And share a main dish you will have many leftovers. P.S if the special of the day is roasted lamb, then go straight for that. The staff, food and ambience is truly wonderful.

I am a big fan of Greek food and went here recently. I am surprised to read some of the other reviews because I found the service to be very polite and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to order that I am definitely looking forward to going back soon and trying some of the other offerings.

Something is seriously wrong in this place. Incredibly rude waitress. You can find many good Greek restaurants in Astoria and Manhattan where the food is equally good, but where you’ll be treated politely and enjoy your evening. Don’t waste your money in this place. (I should have paid attention to previous reviews!)

Has definitely gone down hill. Waited 1/2 hour for appetizer to arrived. Main course was so small. I got the last serving from the pan with very little meat. There are so many great places in the neighborhood , there is no need to put up with this kind of service.

For a place this good it can be very empty sometimes. A friend and I went to dinner and were the only ones there. Great for when you are looking for some delicious mediterranean food without a long wait or high prices.

Very nice quality and the menu looks authentic. There are some regional specialties on the menu I did not see anywhere else in Bay Ridge. Good service: attentive, but not cloying; a waiter is always within reach if one wants a waiter. My only two complaints are the quantity of oil in some meat dishes (people, heat up the frying pan properly before dropping stuff into oil) and the fact that last summer I got a pretty bad case of food poisoning there. But no restaurant is guaranteed against a chance food poisoning and I've been to this place multiple times, both before and after, with no ill effects. This place is especially nice on a summer evening, later at night, with its French windows open, and a light breeze swooshing the ends of the embroidered table cloths.
