    Good food, poor service

That pretty much says it. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, with nobody in front of us, and with servers going back and forth and ignoring us. We then waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order, before finally flagging someone down. When our assigned waiter finally appeared, he was surly, later slamming all our appetisers down on the table and snatching them out of our hands as we tried to rearrange them on the table. That being said, the food was very good. Well cooked, lightly fried calamari. Great mahi mahi tacos. Ribs a little bland for my taste, but incredibly tender. Ditto for the old spot pork appetiser.

    Labor Day Weekend Sunday

It was a mistake to go to any restaurant in the city during long weekend like today. For lunch, we went to Sant Ambroeus. We go It was not a good idea to go to any restaurant in the city during long weekend like today. For lunch, we went to Sant Ambroeus. We go there quiet often for lunch especially for weekend brunch. They have scrambled eggs that are delicious! It comes with veggies and the veggies have taste and tasty! But on this weekend, the eggs were not like usual. I am sure usual chef was not in the kitchen for this special weekend. It can be said to the same to this restaurant. The food looked the same but tasted not the same. Hence, it is not good idea to expect the same taste for any special weekend for most of restaurants. Usual chef, servers were celebrating this weekend like we were

    Always there for you

I have been going to agave since it opened. this is NOT your typical microwave mexican slop it is unique and almost always consistent the menu has gone almost unchanged and no specials are offered but the formula must work because it always seems busy other than the usual (unusual??) confusion at the front door and the recent price increase (who needs a kobe beef burger when the old ground chuck one was great for a lot less $) its a great place.

    Inconsistent

I have had dinner here twice. The first time was AMAZING, including the food, service, and sangria! BUT, we then took a bunch of friends here and had a not-so-great time. We had reservations at 8:30, and it took awhile to be seated. Then, we waited for over 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order. We then waited an hour for our food to come out of the kitchen cold. I was so disappointed in this restaurant. I will most likely not go back, which is so disappointing given our first experience. The did give us a free round of drinks at the end of the meal to make up for such an experience, which was a nice gesture. The manager also tried her best to be sure we were okay, which was nice. If you have to impress someone, don't bring them here. If you are willing to take a gamble on what could be an excellent meal on the right night, you should try Agave.

    Confused

This place has been on my "to try" list for a long time and I finally tried it, to disappointment. First, we had the blue crab quesadilla, and could barely find the few slivers of crab. OK, fine, crab is expensive. The pecan-crusted trout had so much pecan on it that you really couldn't taste the fish, and I had to wonder, what is the point of smothering a mild fish with a strong-flavored nut and overcooking it? To be fair, the grilled shrimp tacos were rather tasty. This place is always packed, and now I really cannot figure out why.

    Tasty NY take on Mexican

Since moving to NY - I've noticed a couple of things - one of which is that NY has plenty of restaurants that are labeled "Mexican" or "Cuban" that are anything but. Agave is one of these places - while the menu is heavily influenced by Mexican flavors and spices the food is not what I would call Mexican. I am not saying the food is not good - its great - just not Mexican. Try going for the prixe fix lunch - its hearty, tasty, and delicious. And only $12.95! You even get a tasting of their varieties of margaritas - the blood orange margarita was amazing - but of course the tasting too small and only led me to order a full margarita at $10 - which is a bit much for a frozen concoction. The scene outside is wonderful and smoker-friendly - for those of you who still enjoy a puff after a satisfying meal while finishing up your cocktail. Overall a great place - staff very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is great - especially the people watching outside.

    Muy Bien!

My fiance and I ate lunch here after seeing this place on food network and we loved it. The decor is soo cute and it was a warm day so the windows were open and it had a breezy mexican feel. The drinks were great. Tequila Mojito is a must try. The Prickly pear margarita was also very tasty. Should be though for 10$ a drink. The bartender was very nice and personable. As for the food, The grilled corn on the cob was very tasty it had a little spice to it. We also had the Tuna tostada appetizer which was great!! The steak and mushroom quesadilla was the best Ive had. The chicken sandwiches are also tasty and make sure to get the Garlicky frites (fries). we are going to go back for dinner very soon!
