Unappetizing food and poor service
One word: disappointing. I had read great reviews beforehand, but we experienced the complete opposite. We waited forever for the waitress to come to our table 1) to take the order, 2) to check on how our food was, and 3) to bring a replacement dish (since they included cheese in every dish even though we specifically told her that we're allergic to the cheese). Not her fault as she seemed kind, but she just had too many tables to wait on. Also, we got the grilled corn on the cob that tasted and smelt...like cigarettes. No joke -- it was nauseating and should be illegal. One of the most unappetizing dishes we ever ate in our lives. Not good when your first stop after dinner is to find gum so you can get the taste out of your mouth. Save yourself time and do not go here.

Hmmmm...
So I had my birthday brunch here... The food was good - the drinks yummy - fun time...but it truly appeared that they did not keep the drinks straight especially when most of the guests had the brunch special for 18 dollars or so... With a party of 10 we did not have the time or patience to break down the bill - but it was over 500 dollars so we were definitely ripped off. Also the frozen machine died toward the end and they were kind of like "tough luck".

Seriously?
The people were great but very amateur at what they do.... Bartender was missing and nobody knew how to serve a beer or pour a glass of wine; at 14 dollars you would expect real meat cooked the way you asked; the "skirt steak" taco was not fully cooked nor was it quality skirt steak. The setting is beautiful but for flavorful food go to the taco truck on 6th avenue.

My new favorite
I have recently moved outside of the city but everytime I come back to visit (which is quite often) I have to go to Agave. The guacamole is perfectly simple and flavorful. The cheese spinach dip is heavenly. The steak quesadilla? The best I've ever had. Although I've been several times, today I had outstandingly exceptional service and I wanted to right a review to return the good karma! Agave is the best Mexican restaurant in NYC

Pleasantly surprised
My husband and I were in the area and decided to try it. The bar was packed, so I assumed it was the type of place with great margaritas and subpar food--not the case (well, the margaritas may be tasty, but the food was too). I ordered a chicken with yellow and red pepper sauce and it was flavorful, moist, and filling with tasty sides of blue corn tortillas stuffed with cheese. My hubby liked his enchiladas too. Our side of spinach was a little oily, and our waiter, though helpful and friendly, was hard to find at times, but I'd go back. The entrees are pricey (about $18 to $25), but I didn't mind because the atmosphere was lovely and the food was yummy. Order the xango for dessert--banana and cheesecake-stuffed pastries with vanilla ice cream.

Perfect Spot
A group of 12 of us went out to celebrate my birthday and were extremely happy with our choice of Agave. The food was fantastic, the margaritas delicious (and huge!), the ambiance hip (although a bit loud), and our server was fantastic. Not only did our waiter go out of his way to bring me a free dessert- he brought something else for the whole table too! Couldn't have asked for a better night. This is my new Mexican spot for sure.

Poor service
I pretty much stopped going here. I always enjoyed the food and drinks but the staff have no clue what they're doing.
