We went there after reading the good reviews on this site and Zagat. It was empty at the time but filled up pretty quickly. The one waiter they had was very nice. It is a small place and a wednesday evening so I dont think they needed to many waiters to begin with. He gave us our own container of water to fill our cups when we please. I liked that since I didnt have to depend on someone to keep on refilling my glass since I love water. My boyfriend and I shared one plate since we were not to hungry but have been wanting to try it for a while. The waiter didnt seem bothered that me and my BF shared one plate. To be honest I cannot even think of one restaurant where the waiter would not be bothered to see a couple only ordering one plate of food. (This waiter was SOOO nice) The food came quickly. Our plate came with three kinds of meat. It was great. The entree usually comes with one piece of toasted pita bread. Since he knew we were sharing he put twow ithout us even asking. That was very considerate of him. And again I cannot think of one other restaurant that would do that. The green suace was great!! However the white sauce was even better!!! The waiter said it was salad dressing but we found ourselves putting it all over our rice and meet. (Were guilty of eating from the Halal vendors on the street, and they use white sauce as condiment for the rice and meet. So we copied there idea) O yes the salad that came with our food was also good. The bill came and we were happy with the food and the service. We left the guy 23% tip and he was so happy. We would definitely like to go back again. However me and my boyfriend have a no repeating restaurants policy since there is so many places in the city to choose from. Especially on 9th Ave where Afghan Kebab is located. However seeing that there is so little Afghan Restaurants in the city our rule might change. Great place, Great Food, Great Service, Great Price.

To whomever wrote that the region is "naturally hot" is ignorant. Afghanistan is a mountainous region and has a temporate climate in the valleys just like NY, snows in the winter etc. Please end the ignorance or atleast dont flaunt it!

All I can say is have them leave the dill dressing at your table and put it on everything. It is literally one of the most delicious condiments I have ever tasted.

My wife and I first tried the "restaurant" when it consisted of an oven and all they sold was Afghan bread. When the kebab house became a restaurant, we were delighted. We're frequent diners. Now our grown children love to eat there whenever they come to Manhattan. Bring your own wine or beer, Arrive hungry. The menu is moderate, the food just fine. Relax and enjoy it.

Great tasty cuisine. Came for a simple dinner on a casual date - she loved the unpretentiousness, the lack of attitude, & the food. Love basmati rice w/ lamb, chicken whatever. Dip the fresh baked bread in the entree dishes, makes my mouth water everytime I think about it. Just don't like their yoghurt drink. We also received a 2nd helping of rice, very nice. But nite we came their a/c was on the blink when the weather outside was nasty & humid, so it was a bit humid/warm inside also. But we pretended we were in the region where it is naturally hot. Made us look fwd to going to her apt. with her kool a/c!! Great evening great date!
