Adriatic Italian Restaurant
Posted by D. Expert on 09/29/2007
I try to make my reviews balanced, so I'm trying to think of something negative to say about Adriatic. Truth be told, I can't come up with anything. This place is a rarity in 2007 New York City: a restaurant with great food, attentive and friendly service, reasonable prices, and a dining room that's both casual and a step up from an average diner at the same time. This is actually two entities in one: the pizzeria, and the restaurant itself. The front area is devoted solely to pizza/calzones/etc, and appears to be a typical pizzeria. The pizza, calzones and company are excellent. Once you pass through the doors that lead to the back, you get the real Adriatic experience. The menu has typical Italian restaurant dishes, but they are all made to order. This makes a big difference in quality, as every dish I've ordered has been above-average. Delivery service is excellent, particularly to the confusing Stuyvesant Town area. Food arrives well-packaged and insulated so it gets to your door as hot as it was when it left the kitchen. This is not a small detail; many places have no problem sending you a lovely (but freezing cold) dinner. All in all, Adriatic wins.

Anytime I visit NYC, this is a must stop and eat location. Their lasagna is the best in the nation, the one I compare all others to and others always fail to meet the quality. Dont be fooled by the exterior of the fast pizza eating area. In the back in the hidden secret hideaway, that mostly only locals are aware of. Enjoy! I always do!

This is the best resturuant ive ever been too. The food, service, and people that work there are the best! I love all food especially the pizza. i also love that little boy that comes to work on saturdays. HE IS SO CUTE!. i wish my daughter can date him or someting but he's got a girlfriend. Out of all the resturaunts ive been too this one is the best!

I went here with my boyfriend last night for the first time after reading these great reviews. We were very pleased with everything! Our waitress and the others who help out were so polite and sweet, filled the water as soon as it emptied, made us feel like home. The veal parmagian and eggplant parmagian were delicious and the wait after ordering was about 20 minutes. Most importantly, it was quiet, soft music (muzak piped in), so relaxing and pleasant in every way. Perfect place and I will definately go again and again!

Adriatic is easy to miss; the restaurant is tucked behind a street front pizza place. If you didn't know to walk through the pizza parlor, you'd never discover the hidden gem of a family restaurant in back. The food is great, the price is great, the staff is exceptionally wonderful.

I live on 18th and 1st, and this is our "go-to" spot. We order 2-3 times a week. Waitresses are wondeful... food is amazing (my favorites are veal parm and chicken francaise). The crowd is an older crowd, so if you youngsters can get over it, you should go enjoy a great meal (or order in).

My husband and I are fond of their pizza and one evening decided to order in a dinner, it was not a good experience...the chicken seemed to be nuked in a microwave, dried out and tasted old. This dish is not recommended.
