Don't listen to the haters! This place is awesome...we order the chicken francese at least once a week from this place and it always tastes delicious. The guy taking the orders is very efficient and polite...and the delivery is fast!

I have been going to Adriatic since January 1988. It is a great family owned local restaurant that is a gem in NYC. I now live in Texas but have meals from the Adriatic send to elderly relatives living in Sty Town a few times a week. I recommend Adriatic to friends visiting NY and stop by to eat when I visit NY which is several times a year. Wish they were in Texas....

I have found a lack of consistency in the taste and preparation of this food. On some occasions the food is very good while on others it is inedible. For instance a chicken order was so hard and tough on three occasions it could not be eaten. The same occurred with a shrimp dish. Although the owners were told of this problem and they gave alot of lip service indicating that they would check the order to ensure that it was prepared appropriately in fact they did not and the food was just as inedible as on previous occasions. We will no longer order from this restaurant.

So here's the deal...We always are ordering out and it was a difficult search to find as good Italian food as we get from Adriatic. With many places closer to 13th and A. than I can count on both hands, it took finding a random menu [drop]ped in our doorway sometime last year to find the best chicken parmigiana in the area with Adriatic. And like I said, we order out all of the time and have sampled many many places too numerous to name in the area and have been disappointed, sad to say, by all of them except Adriatic. The salad is always offered from the friendly voice on the phone, and the dressing is always great, so order it if they suggest it! We have not been in to eat, but from what I gather from our delivery experience, that the food there would be fantastic because the delivered food always is fantastic. So, not to bore anyone, I'll end here by saying that I agree with the other reviews I have looked at regarding Adriatic and concur that they deliver hot and fresh, and are willing to cross the 14th street line to enter the East village to grace us with their magnificent menu and oh so palatable edibles. Oh and one more thing...the shrimp capellini appetizer is so huge that you'll never finish it alone and it is beyond worth the charge for it. Be swell and enjoy! Thanks Adriatic and we hope you always stay with many more years of prosperity.

I try to make my reviews balanced, so I'm trying to think of something negative to say about Adriatic. Truth be told, I can't come up with anything. This place is a rarity in 2007 New York City: a restaurant with great food, attentive and friendly service, reasonable prices, and a dining room that's both casual and a step up from an average diner at the same time. This is actually two entities in one: the pizzeria, and the restaurant itself. The front area is devoted solely to pizza/calzones/etc, and appears to be a typical pizzeria. The pizza, calzones and company are excellent. Once you pass through the doors that lead to the back, you get the real Adriatic experience. The menu has typical Italian restaurant dishes, but they are all made to order. This makes a big difference in quality, as every dish I've ordered has been above-average. Delivery service is excellent, particularly to the confusing Stuyvesant Town area. Food arrives well-packaged and insulated so it gets to your door as hot as it was when it left the kitchen. This is not a small detail; many places have no problem sending you a lovely (but freezing cold) dinner. All in all, Adriatic wins.
