    Not worth going back

Dinner was ok, not great, guess I expected it to be something special which it wasn't. Apps were good, the main course could have had a better selection. Wine was great, though at a great price too, our wine and food charges were exactly half n half. Overall not a wow, no reason to go back.

    excellent place.

we went there for restaurant week summer 2010.Place is very sophisticated and classy.Very romantic and pleasant atmosphere.Food was very good, desert was superb.Portion could be bigger, especially appetiser.Wine pairing was okay, red wine didn't go very well with the fish we ordered.Overall we had very pleasant dining expirience and will definetely go back there for restaurant week dinner next time.Otherwise it is very overpriced, but restaurant week dinner menu makes it affordable and very nice service make you want to go back.

    Disappointing

My impression is that it's a grand rip off because the food is just OK while the prices are ridiculous. I have decided to stop going to restaurants that are obviously not able to negotiate fair rents with their landlord and add the extra cost of this rent rip-off to my dinner price. We have found better food for a fraction of these crazy prices in dining rooms that are equally as nice. This is a tourist trap, obviously.

    Great Dinner

The food and wine was excellent. The atmosphere was very nice. Although every table was occupied, the noise was minimal and you did not heard other conversations.

    A Great Surprise

having been in the main dining room area with friends a few times, I wanted my anniversary to be somewhat quieter - that is all . Adour could not have been more wonderful. We are not the Hallmark type, yet they had a table with side-by-side seating set, but offered us other options (we did choose their perfect situation); the service was discrete, yet right on time, the recommendations for wine were spot on and the food was ideal. The desert recommendations coupled with the wines advised were perfect. Highly, Highly praised and a great surprise.

    Naked Emperor

It is sad to have to write such a disparaging review of a man who has done so much for French food, but this was one of the most disappointing meals I have eaten in New York. We were left waiting for our table for an hour without apology, and then we were essentially neglected for the remainder of the evening. The food, when it finally arrived, was pedestrian at best. Nothing that couldn't have been served at any of hundreds of other restaurants in the city. Nothing special, except when the check arrived. Frustrating, disappointing, infuriating.

    Expected More

Enjoyed an anniversary dinner in the main dining area which is not very large but the acoustics made it seem more crowded than it really was and loud. The tables were also too close to one another, as I could clearly here the topic of the conversation of the next table. The lighting of the main chandelier was warm while the candles on the table looked like they were in styrafoam cups. The wine list was extensive and pricey. Compliments of the chef were puff balls with cheese inside, but the flavor of the batter overpowered the delicacy of the cheese inside. The lobster bisque with truffle was "velvety," so good! The foie gras ravioli dough was too AL DENTE and the filling was not up to our expectations. The main entree of pork toumedos was good but not tender enough while the smoked bass looked amazing with a mosaic of vegetables cut into circles and laid on top of the not so delicate and rather rubbery piece of fish. The accompanying jus did not add any flavor and yet was called "hearty." If you are to judge a meal by the finishing plate, it would win 4 stars (not 5 because the espresso was burnt)! The desserts were sublime and the portions big enough to share. We had the chocolate sorbet and the hazelnut torte. The sorbet came with bread croutons which gave it a crunch in texture but didn't add anything to the flavor. The mouse was delicate. The hazelnut dish laid on a crunchy, nutty bottom covered by hazelnut mouse and a sliver of chocolate with hazelnut ice cream which was very rich in flavor. It was really good. The complimentary macaroon cookies were average. Nice experience but from the Regis you would expect everything to be above average. The service was great at times but below average at others when the waiter bumped into our seat Oh, there are only 3 choices of bread which are pretty standard ( olive roll, baguette and sour dough roll), not warm or superb in quality. Two varieties of butter are available - regular and olive butter which is quite salty but interesting in taste. Average meal in a not so average setting.
