Awesome Asian on 56th!
Really great quality of food. Place was pretty quiet on a Wed night, but the food was awesome. Service was fast and the bill was worth every penny! Def recommend it if you are looking for something away from tourist crowds/tourist prices and love your Asian food!

pleasant surprise
To be honest, I usually go on menupages to complain about overrated nyc restaurants but I had a wonderful dining experience at Adaro last weekend. Sushi was an A+, service was outstanding and a fried tofu appetizer I had was delicious. My date could not stop raving about her dinner and now wants to have her birthday here!

batman eats here!
After much consideration and review, of our review, we have decided that in tandem we liked this place. It was very good. The BYOB atmosphere was sublime and the waiters and waitresses were very helpful, DESPITE the lack of tv channel changing from CNN, which is the last channel you want to watch while eating pan asian food. On the Sandy-Joe richter scale, they have received... a 3.8/5. (+/- 0.4 for subjective differences in opinion).

Good food but no liquor license yet
As of 02/17/09 this place does not have a liquor license. They can only serve saki (hot or cold) until they get one. However, food was good with many choices (especially if you have people in your party with varying tastes) and the service was really very friendly and attentive. It is not traditional Japanese if that's what you are looking for but great if you want to try innovative combinations. I would definitely go back.

Loved it!
I had never tried sushi until tonight, and it couldn't have been a better experience. Right off the bat, I told our server that he would laugh, but that I had never tried it before. Soon after that, another guy, I'm thinking the owner, came by and told us he would pick what we'd try b/c he wanted us to like it. And I truly loved it! The service was EXCEPTIONAL! It was very very personal. They would bring out some sushi for us to try, he would tell us about it, then let us eat, and then a little later he'd bring out more. It was the perfect first sushi experience, and I would DEFINITELY go back. Besides sushi, I also had the Japanese spring rolls as an appetizer, and those too were very good. I highly recommend this restaurant!

great!
My friend and I stopped in for dinner just from walking by and I have to say, it was a wonderful find! The sushi rolls (eel and spicy tuna) were fabulous as was the service. The owner (Joe) joined us for after-dinner drinks and was very generous with the sake. I will definately go here again!

It was not as good as other reviews
The Sushi was good, BUT we sat a long time after ordering. I asked where our food was two times. The waiter never came back to say anything or ask how the food was. There are plenty of sushi places in NYC. I would not go back here.
