Unpleasant experience
I went to this restuarant with my 3 girlfriends to celebrate a promotion. After waiting for one hour to be seated, the hostess tried to seat us at a table which literally was at the door. We asked to be seated elsewhere given one girl was pregnant and it was freezing outside. The hostess was not willing to accomodate. We then went over and found an empty table that was "for 3 people" but easily fit four. The hostess would not seat us there either and I walked over with my friend to look at it. All of a sudden, the manager walked over and started yelling at us. He told us his guests were to be seated where they were told and were not allowed to walk around and sample seating. He said he would not tolerate us harrasing his hostess. We tried to calm him down but he just yelled us and literally walked away as we were speaking. We then went back to the hostess and were discussing what had happened when the manager came back, stuck his hand in my face, and screamed "just get out." We insisted on speaking to the owner, who then came out and did not feel sorry or embarresed at all about how his manager acted. To top it off, the food was disgusting and overpriced. This place should not be in business.

Underwhelming
For anyone looking for the old cajun / creole joint - it's gone. Why didn't they just change the name? Came for an advertised happy hour, only to find out there isn't one. Had the foie with langoustine, scallops and a couple of their cocktails. I love foie, but paired with what tasted like old langoustine, I found it inedible. The scallops, bland. I wouldn't complain much about the underwhelming drinks if they were $3 less each. The ambiance was much more formal than I'd expected. It was after work, so I was dressed business casual probably a little unkempt from the day, and the servers - and I've never experienced this before - were a bit pretentious, looking me up and down. Yikes! I only came in for a drink at the bar. I could even ignore that if the food were up to par. Needless to say, I'll never return.

stunningly good
the food here is a revelation. the best meal i've had in an eternity. the raw mackerel, the raviolo, the cauliflower, the char, and the beer and bread porridge were all unbelievably delicious -- well-conceived dishes prepared beautifully. i'll be back as soon as i can.

Not Recommended
I went in with minimal expectations given some of the other reviews and was still disappointed. While the space was fun, hip, and full of eye candy, the food just really missed the mark. In fact, some of the items bordered on downright inedible (e.g., the heirloom tomatoes with watermelon and the grilled peaches). While tasty, the sausage-stuffed peppers were by no means great. I enjoyed the pea soup, but I don't think that someone who doesn't appreciate raw food would have. We also tried the sweet shrimp with bison and enjoyed it, but for $18 it's totally overpriced. One redeeming thing was the dessert--corn ice cream. But isn't putting caramel popcorn in it kind of cheating? The cocktails were meh and the service, while attentive, felt aloof and insincere. Plus they brought us the check without our asking, even though we barely lingered. Big turn-off. Anyway, I have eaten at a lot of other great restaurants of late and would recommend those a million times over Acme.

ridiculous
This place is ridiculous. Sub-par over-priced food and obnoxious indifferent wait staff and hosts. Go elsewhere.

Great brunch
This is not your typical NYC brunch. The place has a low-key vibe and great food. We had the bread pudding griddle cake which is served with maple syrup and tart rhubarb, the Danish omelet, salt baked beets and the duck sausage, coffee and watermelon juice. The bill starts to climb when you order drinks and a few sides but it's a great place that takes reservations for brunch!

Pros and Cons
The space is great, and the bar scene is super fun. There's plenty of room so you don't feel like your on top of everyone. The bartenders are amazing - hot and super attentive. The food started out amazing and then was just OK. Loved the duck in a jar and the sunchokes. The pork cheek was lacking something - it was bland and it stuck to my teeth (literally). The carrots are actually ONE carrot sliced in quarters sitting in too much oil/butter. Disappointing. Overall worth a second try but definitely hits an misses.....
