Snobby...why?
I was so excited to see this place open on Broadway. Sadly when my husband and I went for dinner on a Tues evening we were very disappointed. The host staff was extremely rude, waitstaff was slow and non attentive.....didn't even tell us the specials. Bad food for high price. Come on guys, get it together....we need a good neighborhood place up here. I thought this would be it but was sadly mistaken! Won't be back!!

Dissapointing
Was pretty excited when i saw the old Docks was turning into an Italian wine themed restaurant. I pictured a place I could visit multiple times a week and have some pasta and wine at the bar. Too bad Accademia did not live up to my expectations. Very, very overpriced bland food and an atmosphere that screams suburban shopping mall. The food is just not worth the prices.

Such a Disappointment
As much as we were delighted to see the addition of A di V to the upper west side, the experience was a major disappointment. The service was friendly but inefficient -- main courses took 25 minutes to arrive. Pasta Carbonara was requested "al dente" and arrived over cooked -- as did the veal cheeks. The ricotta cheese cake has as much resemblance to its Italian antecedents as Groucho Marx has to Marxism -- a heavy baseball size disaster. The Tiramisu was just OK. And the wine -- a Barbera D'Albi -- although well recommended by the informative Somellier was vastly overpriced. The online retail price was about $13 and sold on the wine list for $60!!! We won't be going back, sadly.

Average food, high prices
Overpriced pastas (spaghetti and tomato sauce for $19, seriously??). Mediocre food. I give it 6 months. Nice wine list though.

Great addition to the UWS
This area of the UWS is pretty bare of any good eating establishments, so it's nice that not only did a new place open, but so far it's been pretty good! Small, somewaht cramped, but a lot of walk-in space in the bar-lounge space. They take reservations, but the dining room is small and they say they've been booking up fast, so I've only been able to walk in to the bar, where they have "community" tables; the full menu is served there. I've been there twice so far, and have loved the pumpkin and pancetta pizza, the roasted peppers, the spaghetti carbonara and the veal cheeks (I shared; I'm not a pig!). The wine list is vast, mostly Italian, and they have a full bar and over 20 wines by the glass. The service has been very friendly, and, considering how new the restaurant is, really knowledgeable. Really nothing to complain about; my ratings leave room for improvement. Some things that could use work: the bathrooms are down a narrow flight of stairs, which themselves look unfinished; the host podium is not immediately visible, and large crowds of waiting people clog the front entrance. Also, like most restaurants, they have trouble keeping the AC adjusted so the temperature is just right. But these are minor quibbles. I've loved this restaurant since they opened last week and intend to make it a permanent fixture in my nightly eating out!
