Very good northern Italian
Excellent lamb specials, love the tortellini in brodo, weak wine selection.

Worth every dollar
I've been to many restaurants of every caliber, and acappella is one of the best. most places nowaday's serve fancy dishes in fancy plates, and the coast can be any where from $125 a person and up, and the food is either not that good, and or the service is poor. there's even some times when i go in hungry and leave starving. Acappella is one of the most filling place i know . the food is very tasty prepared in some cases in front of you, the space between tables is great ( you have plenty of elbow room, ) the service is 2nd to none. the price is average for the caliber of fine dinnig that it is. I will continue to go back because I enjoy great food and service.

Wonderful!
We had dinner here on our anniversary and it was wonderful! The food was great and the staff was wonderful! We had a great evening in the restaurant and will go back again when we are in New York. We have already recommended it for anyone we know that is going to NYC!

upsell
The level of food can be found in many other Italian spots for half the price or less. The wine list has one red under $100 and the waiters put on a show that amounts to nothing more than padding your check. I don't mind spending but this is not the place to do that. There are so many great places that are actually worth the price. Acappella is not. It's a hustle.

Overpriced
I do not recommend this restaurant. The food is ordinary but the cost is up there with some of the most expensive restaurants in the city. I will not be going back.

Amazing
Acappella is truly one of the best restaurants in the city. The service is great, the maitre' d (forgive any mispelling) is your classic brooklyn-type freindly itallian guy who always comes around at the end of the meal and announces that he is giving you free grappa. The quality of the food is off the charts. The pasta is amazing, especially the rigatoni grappa. The rack of lamb is the best in the city. Acappella is a very nice find considering that the "fine dining" label has been reduced to only be an indication of price and not quality. Accappella isn't cheap, but the prices aren't unreasonable, and the quality more than justifies the price.

Service A+, but I eat out for the food
Great service and showmanship, but the food doesn't match. I've eaten at Daniel, Cru, Nobu, Babbo and others in the past year where the service is excellent, but the food is actually better. Acappella, while looking like a star, with a maitre d' who has you in stitches and tableservice second to none, puts out a very standard northern italian menu ruined by a chef with a heavy salt hand (maybe he was having an off night, but it was gross). Even the tuna tartare is doused in sea salt. The brocoli rabe was so salty it was inedible for all six people. Veal Saltimboca, too salty, Mushroom Ravioli, too salty, Bronzino, too salty. Did I mentioned I liberally salt all my food? It is 9am the next morning and I feel like I will be dehydrated all day. My oysters rockefeller were about the only notable dish as an appetizer. Plump oysters, slightly undercooked with a little fontina cheese were perfect. This seems like a nice place to meet a date for a drink at the bar, skip the food, and walk to Scalini Fedeli or Roc up the street for some decent food. Tim Zagat and the reviewers below must have had a little too much grappa the nights they ate here to be so generous.
