What kills me is that people move to the BK from the Upper West Side or Tribeca or wherever and go on a mission to suck all of the originality out of tis neighborhood and make it exactly the same Manhattan. Academy has been one of the very few constants in this neighborhood thru the years. They can be a little quirky, but thats what makes you love them and this place a true part of the hood- if you want Bubbys style breakfast, service and atmosphere- get in a cab and go to Dumbo- If you want a cheap meal that served from this cool family like it has been for over 15 years , the go to Academy - but please stop whining... The breakfast is good, the delivery is fast, I have never had a situaton where they would not fix a mistake on an order and though the prices have gone up it's still the best deal you can get in a neighborhood of sub-par resturants taking advantage of the new hip residents of Ft. Greene. This is a true neighborhood gem- enjo it for what it is but lets not try to turn them into your 4 Star Top Chef fantasy- leave them be.

I used to like to have my Saturday (every Saturday and sometimes Sunday) breakfast at Academy because they had great simple food at a very affordable price. I had to stop going for the same reasons I don’t let them deliver. If Academy messes up your order, it's your problem. So it was hard to get someone to take blame for taking down the wrong order or not making it the way you asked and of course, if you made any changes to fix it you were charged extra. At the diner it is not as easy for them to get the way you would like your eggs wrong and part of that I would stick to this one waiter. I went in about 4 months ago and the cook socked my French toast in the egg mixed to the point it looked as if scrambled eggs on toast so I showed the waiter who told me that I need to talk to her manager. These old men proceed to try and convince that this is how my French toast should look. I left and did not order or visited since. I wake up and in a rush so I call them up and placed an order asking for my eggs to be done well. My order gets here and of course it is not so, I call them up and she tells me that she could sent me some eggs done the way I would like them. I asked her what about my meat that is socked in the runny eggs she suggested that I run my bacon under some water!

they are my go to place for ordering breakfast in the morning. eggs and bacon are cooked just so and delivery is super quick. i also love the no-nonsense people who take the orders. i've never dined inside or had anything other than breakfast though.

If you order delivery on a Sunday morning, expect to wait. Our delivery order took an hour and 15 minutes to arrive - and we only live 3 blocks away. I ordered blueberry pancakes, expecting the berries to be INSIDE, as in, in the batter. I got pancakes folded in half with canned blueberry pie filling in the middle, kind of like a blintz I guess. But the blue sugary goo was most certainly from a can, and NOT delicious. If we ever patronize this place again, which is not likely, we'll be sure to stick to the basics, like scrambled eggs and toast, which are hard to screw up.

Tommy the owner and his staff are the best have been going there for over 15 years hope to go for 15 more classic old school neighborhood diner as any oldtimer from ft green

i loved their food. It was exactly what i wanted, delicious, easy, yummy, and cheap! The workers are very nice, and the enviornment is comfortable. everything was delicious, and homey!

The breakfast and the burgers are all good! The value is great. It is good quality diner food. This place has been around for a long time. It is so nice to have one constant in the ever evolving Fort Greene area. The staff has been the same for as long as I've been going here (8+ years) and they are so friendly. Great family place to support.
