    Good but salty

Was very excited to try it here since it got such great reviews. Food was by no means unappetizing, but I didn't feel that it lived up to the "hype". Everything tasted way over salted to us... Would give it a 2nd chance though, maybe they were having an off night?

One of the Best in Manhattan!

This restaurant is close to perfection. The quality of the food, the decor, the service, the crowd, and the ambiance are impeccable.

    Great food, great atmosphere

We had lunch without a reservation and my wife was carrying our month old daughter in sling. We hadn't planned on eating there, so I was wearing a tshirt and some crocs (oops). They didn't care. We asked our server if they could move things along because we didn't know when our baby would wake up, and they were cool with it. The staff was very fast, friendly, and accommodating. The food was excellent. Each dish was perfectly presented and tasted amazing. I would characterize the menu as an exercise in light flavors and fresh ingredients. The food is not overly complicated, but certainly sophisticated. For example, raw mackerel does not appear on a lot of menus because it can be awful fishy if not super fresh and the right cut, but theirs was perfect. The restaurant is decorated like ABC Home and Carpet (duh!), so if you like that style, you'll like this one. As we ate, the place really filled up and there was the dull roar of conversations that is present in most of the really busy (and good) NYC restaurants. Go. Enjoy.

    Excellent dining experience

We went for a small birthday celebration based on a friend's recommendation. It was an excellent dining experience - great food that was really fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere was zen-like - spacious and calming white decor. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Will go back for sure!

    nice newcomer

Finally got a resevation-and it was worth the wait. Beautiful decor-very nice service tho a bit noisy and verypleasant "real" food. No foam-no gimmicks-just good product well pepared-a bit salty for us older folks. We will return. Even spotted the great Jean George (the exec chef) entertaining some bigwigs!

    best NYC retaurant

I tried it last week. The food is divine! each plate was a treat for the palate. My absolute favorite was the mackerel sashimi and the green pee soup. the place is nice and the service was excellent. I am coming back to try everything on the menu. the only draw back is that it gets noisy.
