Outstanding Buffet
Went here with a friend after church and was amazed at the freshness and quality of buffet for $10; I am not from NY, but was told that's about as good as it gets there... consider it the best Indian buffett I have ever had... my wife is from Nepal and she loved it too... sufficiently spicey, but suppose you could add a chili on the side like my wife does if you needed it.

About as good as it gets
Order once a week since I found it about a year back. About as good as it gets in Manhattan. Chicken Tikka Madras, Onion Naan, Mango Lassi. Nice people, remember their reg customers, despite being in the Theatre district. All in all a great eatery thats staying round for a while.

Excellent flavorful Indian food - Update
(Update from my review on 7/19/11) I got the vegetable lunch box again. Rice was still disappointing in flavor but looked nice with some saffron and green peas. Box came with eggplant curry (flavorful in a rich thick yogurt gravy), chickpea curry (flavorful but sauce was watery, it was definitely thicker last time) and a cauliflower and spinach curry (flavorful but sauce was also watery). The box came with a loaf of hot buttered naan, absolutely fresh and yummy like last time. Overall I was pleased with the food again and I know I'll be back.

Bland and not a good value
I was persuaded to give this spot a try due to the good reviews on menupages, despite thinking the prices were a few dollars more than the average Indian restaurant (for dinner). We tried a veg & a chicken dinner; both were incredibly bland. The sauces were thin/watery. Also, the waiter stated that dinners do not come with "carbohydrates" and we would have to pay for rice if we wanted any. (For $12.95, I should get rice with my chicken.) I won't go back. We went to another restaurant for dessert and ended our meal on a good note.

mouth watering satisfaction
so, i ordered from aaheli tonight for the first time. to make a long story short, it was incredible. i’m not big into superlatives, but right now im in a state of postprandial bliss. i have a full but not bloated feeling. the food was incredibly flavorful and it came piping hot and fast. the aloo mutter and chicken korma are outstanding. i cant wait to try the vindaloo. i must compliment the chef and take out crew. very sincerely, a local indian food connoisseur.

Excellent flavorful Indian food
I got the vegetarian lunch box for $8.60 (incl tax). It came in a liter-size plastic reheatable box. The box contained equal amounts of rice, spinach curry (no paneer), chana masala, and potato curry with green beans. The rice was subpar - it was just regular long-grain white rice (not basmati rice) with a few peas, and didn't taste seasoned. The three curries were good - they were flavorful (lots of spices, not bland/watered-down like other restaurants), hearty (it wasn't just a few veggies floating in loads of sauce, like other restaurants) and spicy hot. The lunch box also came with a loaf of fresh, hot, delicious naan. For $2 more you can do the all-you-can eat lunch buffet but the lunch box was totally filling (it weighed about 2lbs, I was struggling to finish it) and satisfying with three different curries. The lunch buffet had the three vegetable curries, two meat curries (one was chicken and I think the other was lamb), tandoori chicken, white rice, naan, and chutneys/sauces.
