nice to visit, wouldn't live there

the cod is excellent. i find the chips a bit too soggy for my liking. the place is small and cramped with very little eating space (bar & stool only) but there is a bench outside which is nice to eat at in the summer months . the selection of brittish sodas and beers is great! the fried mars bar is a must-try. the only huge drawback besides the eating space is the price. dont come here for a meal unless your willing to drop $20 on not so healthy fried food and a soda/beer. overall i love the food but dont find myself eating at a salt & battery very often due to the price.

    A disappointment

Honestly, the food was OK but overall it was truly overpriced. I went with my boyfriend and we basically paid $10 for a piece of fish that didn't even include fries. In total, we paid $30 for fried fish, fries and 2 sodas. Also, there is no seating place in the restaurant and the entire place smelled oily and the floor was sticky with grease. I had high expectations for this place but it failed to deliver. It was worth a try but I am not going back.

    Good chips, ok cod

The chips were great... thick but fairly crispy on the outside. The cod, on the other hand, seemed to have been left in the fryer a bit too long... some parts of the fish underneath the batter were brown and tough. BTW, the prices on MenuPages do not include fries.

    Great Fish & Chips

This was the best fish and chips I've ever had. The mars bar was ok - nothing special. The prices were a little too high for me ($30 for 2 small orders, 2 mars vars and 2 cans of soda). They need to turn on the a/c in the middle of July - we got a seat but it was too oppressive to enjoy the meal, I was surprised that there was only a few stools at a counter and it was packed the whole time we were there. Get the food to go and walk to the park 1/2 block away. It's a once a year place for me but I would defintely go back.

    nothing to write home about

the cod was ok, not the worst i have had and not the best. i could live the rest of my life without eating another deep fried candy bar. the food would have been better if i had had a real table with a chair that had a back. If you are in the neighborhood and need a greasy food fix, it would be fine (but don't expect the AC to keep you very cool). However, it is not worth a special trip
