A is completely Atypical for New York. It's amazing food at great prices, and it feels like you are in a small cafe in a quiet sleepy city. The BYOB feature is such a nice change of pace from overpriced wine and drinks. This is the kind of place where you can bring someone for something special or for a quick bite, but its charm exceeds most. Come early in the evening to avoid missing out on menu items that sell out through the night. Don't miss out on the grilled pear or apple with blue cheese, to DIE for.

We just got back from celebrating my roommate's birthday there. We brought a great bottle of Chilean Merlot with us which complimented our meal nicely - roasted apple with camembere (sp?) cheese, the jerk duck leg and roasted chicken, both served with a lovely flavorful curried cous cous. The meats were rich and tender - the duck meat right fell off the bone. While the service is not over-attentive, we like it that way. The place is small enough that you are never that far away from the waitress (part-owner, I might add - Tamira you are great!) or the chef, for that matter. We were a bit skeptical since the prices were so low but we were completely surprised with the delicious food and terrific atmosphere. We will most certainly be back here again and again and again.

The food is consistently fantastic and extremely inexpensive. Nora, the person who holds it all together, is great. She always remembers you and treats you like you're the most special customer there. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work!

Look, the food isn't fabulous, but it is pretty good and the atmosphere is odd and quirky, like being in someone's funky house. I like eating there sometimes, and you can bring your own wine, so the dining experience winds up being rather cheap. The service is uneven but if you are prepared for a bit of inconvenience at times, but feel like being transported to an atmosphere that is very UNNew York-like, I recommend it. I had no problems with the duck and that is what I usually order. They should change the menu more often, though and there isn't all that much for the veggie crowd to order.

I adore this place, and have eaten there at least 3-5 times each month for years. All of the food is wonderful, the service has always been outstanding and you cannot beat the value! Remeber to bring your favorite wine, and if you want to avoid the crowds, go on a weekday. Yes, you may have to sit family style, so, if that is not tolerable, maybe it's not your kinda place. Although, you'll miss out on a great meal!

I had some stomach problems after eating the duck, and a friend, on a separate occasion, had really bad problems (maybe food poisoning) after eating the pheasant. That said, come and enjoy a great cozy environment with extremely friendly staff - just avoid the bird.
