Not Impressed
I sat on a table to be served, and after 10 min. realized I had to order at the counter. Thanks to the two waitresses who I guess waited for me to find that out on my own. Ordered the spinach salad, the spinach not exceptionally fresh, the sun dried tomatoes exceptionally dry with an excessive amount of caramelized onions!

Favorite cafe in all of Manhattan
This place rocks! I wake up early just to get their iced coffee, which is amazing. The ice cubes are made out of their house blend coffee so it doesn't matter if you let them melt. The mix of the Sumatra coffee and ice cubes is awesome, and it doesn't leave a bitter aftertaste in your mouth. Their sandwiches are yummy too. I've only had three so far, but I liked them all (roast beef, turkey, and herb omelette). The place is adorable and has extra seating downstairs. I used to hate living in the LES, but now that I've discovered this place, I feel so lucky to live there.

My favorite sandwich
The turkey sandwich is my favorite sandwich in all of nyc. I live down the street luckily and I go everyday I'm in town. The vegan bread and the smoothies are also delicious. The people are great, the food is awesome, and the place is airy and cozy at the same time. I LOVE this place. I can't say enough good things.

Great place!
I agree. The stafff is really so nice- I always feel at home when I am there. They just started a new evening menu which is gerat. I've only tried the coppa sandwich- which was to die for. I like that they put bar stools up at night so when I eat alone there is someone behind the bar to talk to. They also have very reasonably priced wines- I can't say enough good things about 88.

a haven for anyone..
i spend a lot of time on the lower east side and i pop into this cafe often enough to know: this place is great. while the prices may not be budget-minded, it's well worth it. they know espresso, they've been voted best breakfast on the LES (good for only being open half a year). the sandwiches are amazing (try the turkey or the grilled chicken) and they even do coffee ice cubes for their iced coffee. its a nice, airy space with a great downstairs for peaceful wine or beer drinking late into the evening. i love the people who work there, too. so i'd like to see them do better. go check them out!
