    Very Hidden, Very Good

This place is a bit out of the way. But the food and beer make up for it. My friends and I enjoyed a very lively and somewhat crazy experience last Saturday. The place was packed, but our Friend knows one of the waitstaff, so we got in after a short wait. There were 4 of us, and we all decided to share plates, which was the best idea I think I ever had. The double diablo, which is deviled eggs with a fried oyster and a jalapeno were so good, we got at least 3 more orders of them. The octopus with garbanzo super fresh but spicy and just tasty. mac n cheese is to die for, but its mac n cheese, so.... goat sliders were great, but bulgogi sliders were amazing. Different. We shared two pastas, wild boar and raviolis. supurb. But when we started drinkin beers is where the fun really started. We got two samplers and shared, then i went for the brazil nut, which im pretty sure I emptied the keg by the time we left. Not to say we were drunk, but well... my iphone says differently when i woke up and realized I had called my friend with a new baby at midnight. Ooops.. anyway! The brewmaster and wife came out and welcomed us and showed us the brewery which was so small, and we all were pretty tipsy by them we were like, wtf? Where is it again? Im sure we were obnoxious, but I hope they are used to that. We ended up dancing somehow, and laughing our asses off at the bartender, as she is hilarious. Will be back. With a chaperon next time.

Off Night of Bad Service and "Meh" Food

I am not quite sure why 508 received such good reviews. From the first moment we got to the restaurant we sensed an off night. It was Saturday night at 8:30pm - we walked into the restaurant and the noise level was extremely high, especially due to a large party seated down the length of the restaurant. It took about 5 minutes for the staff to notice us and then we were seated at a table right up against the bar where the staff walked in and out. There were other better tables, but I guess a reservation does not mean anything. Our waiter, slightly embarrassed by the excessive wait for food, admitted that the kitchen was in chaos due to the large party. Our wait was made a little easier because we ordered a beer sampler of all 508's house brews. Some were OK, but most were heavy handed and pale imitations of Belgian style beers. Of the four dishes we ordered - 2 we fairly good - (crab cakes and a beet salad), but the others were sub-par. The Philadelphia style fried zuchinni were bland and greasy and the roasted chicken in duck fat was flavorless. It had all the heavy fattiness you would imagine from being cooked in duck fat, but zero flavor. How could something so sinful be so "meh"? How hard is it to make a good roast chicken? Given the cost and reviews, we were very disappointed. Perhaps it was one off night, but we probably will never take a risk on coming back...

    508 is Fantastic

Just got back from dinner at 508. My husband and I went with another couple. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Atmosphere was great, food was delicious and service was super. We are definitely going back.

    Great!

Went there on a Friday night and it was surprisingly quiet (maybe because of the location?) but the food was delicious! I thought the service was great as well. The mac and cheese was awesome, as was the sausage appetizer and the muscles special. The short rib burger was also terrific. Place was cool also. The one knock I'd say is the music as it was a little all over the place.

    Awesome!

Food is great, can't beat the price, wine and drink menus are extensive and fun. I agree with some of the comments below that service could use some help, but it's definitely no show stopper. Will be back!

    great food

I really loved this place. The wine list was extensive and reasonable. Everything we tried on the menu was great (4 aps, 4 entrees, 2 desserts). The service was playful yet attentive. The place seemed to be a bit short staffed (server was also the host and part time bartender), but that's my only real knock on the place. I'm looking forward to going back.

    Nice Surprise

In a nutshell, 508 was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is casual yet sophisticated and the food FAR exceeded my expectations. To start, I ordered a seasonal salad with baby spinach, blueberries, apples, walnuts and an apple- cider vinegarette. Fresh and well dressed. For the entree, I had the halibut and seasonal vegetables. Cooked perfectfly, and nicely portioned. Overall, a great neighborhood find.
