    Great Place, Bland Food

The place looked nice when I came in. The room was rather dark. But the soup tasted bland and a little cold. So Five 9th is nothing too special.

    Great for meatpacking

Went here the other night and the place was packed as was everything else in the neighborhood. garden was great and felt a little more relaxed than the inside. Date had a tomato salad and I had meatballs. both were good but nothing special. I had the pork belly for my entree though and that was insane! the sauce was so good! It was a little expensive, but reasonable for that area. Only downside was our server was a total d bag and couldn't be bothered to do ANYTHING.

    Not Worth It

The decor is nice both inside and outside. The scene was just ok, with a mixed crowd. The food was very bland and didn't seem fresh. The muscles were cold, even though the broth was hot. The drinks were ok, but kind of small for the price. Overall, i would have much rather eaten at another restaurant.

    Nice atmosphere, friendly servers

The menu had nice fish selections and limited other meat offerings. My burger was cooked just as I requested but had little flavor. My husband's chicken was delicious. Service was attentive, but we waited a long time for our entrees (it was not busy) Would go back and try a fish dish.

great space, bland and boring food

A great atmosphere, outside seating, great vibe and the good times end there - the food is bland and uninspired. The "home made parpadelle " is egg noodles from a supermarket box served without any sauce. The shrimp satay was undercooked, the chilled soup was spicy, the haddock had zero taste. We were a party of 12 - not 1 person at the table praised their appetizer or entree selection. There are a lot of great restaurants in the neighborhood, go here for a drink and eat elsewhere.

    Beware, menu has changed

The mac & cheese was highly touted by the waiter but was mediocre. It had very little flavor, the taleggio was imperceptible. Fried artichokes were good enough. The highlight of the meal was a suckling pig entree which was absolutely fantastic. Sadly I didn't order it, I had a cod entree that was decent but far from mindblowing. Desserts were very good but I am somewhat easy to please in that regard. I would give 5 Ninth a mild recommendation at best. A few items were impressive but in general it felt like an average meal at above-average prices.

    Delicious!! But small portions

We went here on the spur of the moment and were pleasantly surprised by a delicious, elegant dinner. The haddock and fluke entrees were amazing: flavorful, delicate, balanced. I'd go back for both. Portions are very small, so you'll need a starter and/or side dish or you'll leave hungry. The entree is only a portion of fish or meat. Gelato dessert was very good. Service was friendly. A little pricey, but delicious and in a soothing, romantic setting.
