I really was disappointed in the burger itself. At medium rare it barely could hold itself in tact. The burger was grey and flavorless. I asked how they are cooked and was told on flat and in there own juices. Someone needs to install a grill on the premises. Other than the burger the place was gorgeous and the menu was unique.

Went to 5 Napkins after passing on way to another restaurant. My friends thought it was an intersting name so decided to come back and try. Been there twice so far. First time had the original burger. Since I don't eat beef, I asked the waiteress if I could get with turkey instead and she said I could substitute turkey for any of the offered burgers which is great. I'm somewhat of a picky eater but I thought this was a really good burger. So did my friends. It was tasty and moist. Fries were okay (not the best but not the worst I've ever had) but burger definitely made up for any shortcomings of the fries. Second time I decided to try the fish and chips with side of slaw. Fish was good but slaw was really delicious (vinegar based with a sweet flavor). Service is good. Our waiter (Antonio) on second visit was very attentive. As for drinks, only had caramel latte shake both times which was yummy. My friend had the dark and stormy float and thought it was devine. She couldn't imagine the mind that came up with merging rum raisin & ginger beer. We would absolutely go back there again.

This place was great when it first opened. The burger were huge and yummy and the service spectacular. I have been back about a half-dozen times since my first visit and I have to say everything has gone down hill rather quickly. Our server was so disinterested in his job that he made us depressed, the burgers have shrunk in size considerably and come out not even close to the way you order the, I aske dfor mine to be medium well and got medium rare. By the time the server cam by to check I had given up and eatin most of it so it seemed pointless to send it back. My date ordered medium and well-done. Totally inconsistent. Will probably think twice before heading to this place again.

Delicious, what more can we say. The appetizer of pickles w/pastrami was delicious. Our burgers were juicy not to mention also delicious. Great place for a quick bite before a show or after. It gets busy.

I'm shocked at any kind of mixed review I've read here. I've been to 5 Napkin twice now, and both times had some of the best burgers I've had anywhere in the city, and I've lived in the city more than 15 years, and am critical of bad food. This is GREAT food! The burgers rock. The onion ring appetizer was yummy. The atmosphere is low key cool, bistro-y. You feel like you've been somewhere. I went with a group of 3 others. We shared two appetizers, each had great burgers, had a bottle of wine, and the bill was less than $50 each, including leaving a good tip. In the City, on a weekend, I think it's a great deal, and definitely worth it. Go!

My wife and I stopped in after the theatre last Saturday night. The place was packed at 11 PM and the hostess said we would have to wait until a table was made ready but we were seated almost immediately after she got those words out of her mouth. The service was fast and professional. The water and menus were placed right as we sat down and our waiter took our our orders within 5 minutes. My wife ordered the 5 napkin burger and it arrived medium well as ordered and I had the bacon cheeseburger medium rare and again it was as ordered. Skinny fries were plentiful, hot and not too salty. Our waiter addressed us respectfully - Sir & Ma'am - (we had a waitress a couple of weeks ago addressing us as "guys" & wife and I are in our late 50s)and he checked a few minutes after the food was served to see if our food was OK. Another big plus with our waiter is that that when he picked up our payment took it and brought our change! What's the big deal you ask? It's is a sore point with me when a server comes to collect payment and asks me if I "will be needing change." Yes I will be needing change. I can't stand this anymore. I think it's totally unprofessional for a server to ask. Just collect my money and bring back my change. I read a couple of reviews that complained about the $14.95 price for the burgers with fries. You've got to be kidding me! You're getting a true 10 oz. burger (it sure looks like it, pretty big) and fries, and table service while sitting on a comfortable soft seat, in the middle of the Manhattan Theatre District. The overhead, food supply and personel to run a place like this is very high. I think their price is reasonable. I see that at least one reviewer complained about the noise level. I don't know what they expect. Just looking in the window of this restaurant in the theatre district you could see that it's not a "cozy table in the corner". They should have turned around and walked out the door because as soon as you walk inside you know its noisy. So all in all we liked 5 Napkin for the professional service and food quality and value. We will return.
