    Best burger in town!

    I came here with a friend of mine and ordered the bacon cheddar burger. It was enormous and was cooked perfectly. I can't believe the number of people unimpressed with their burgers on this site. We LOVED the food here. For dessert I got the Smore milkshake and it was probably the best shake I've ever had. Unbelievable.

    Good, but pricey

    I ordered my food 'To Go' as the place was packed, so I went straight to the bar to place my order. The bartender was very nice and my order came pretty quick. I ordered the original 5 Napkin Burger which was good, but a could have used a little more flavor. I also ordered the deep fried pickles and pastrami served with sauerkraut and mustard oil which was an odd and creative dish and turned out to taste amazing! I found the food to be over-priced, but I did enjoy the food.

    Good Veggie Burger!

    Great veggie burger...the fries were shoestring, kinda like Mc Donalds...nothing special. A pricey burger. My waiter was kind.

    never again!

    i only wish i had gone on 3/24/09 when one of your reviewers reported having such an excellent meal experience! my husband and i went on may 9 before a matinee. the restaurant was half full at 12:30, with booths and tables available. the hostess seated us at a table for 2, passing at least 3 empty booths as she did so. the occupied booths had 2, 3 and 4 people so i didn't understand why we were automatically seated at one of the postage stamp-sized tables. the noise level was already unacceptable and would get only worse as the time wore on. our server plunked down the menus and asked for our drink orders at once. my husband said he'd like to see the beer selection first and then, realizing he'd be trapped at his seat if another couple was seated next to us, told the server that he'd like to use the men's room while he had a chance. the waiter said he'd return. minutes later, my husband returned to find a new couple seated which necessitated disturbing 4 other customers, moving tables and chairs. the server came back almost immediately and asked for our orders. we quickly ordered the 5napkin standard, one medium-well, the other medium-rare. i requested a multi-grain roll be substituted for the soft roll listed and was told that was fine. the other newly seated couple ordered the same 5napkin burgers both medium-well and no roll change. 40 minutes later, the couples on either side of us were done eating, were paying their checks and we still had not been served!! we had flagged down the server about 30 minutes into our wait and he expressed dismay over the kitchen's inability to "deal with special orders". he said he had told the manager about the wait and the manager was "expediting" it. i finally got up and approached the manager and politely told him of our problem and pointed out the couple seated next to us getting ready to leave. he all but snarled at me that he was well aware of what was happening, that we had only waited for 40 minutes and that the problem was in my "special requests": 2 different hamburger temperatures and a change in rolls!! the burgers came shortly after and were cold.

    Waiter with Attitude

    Stopped in today for lunch after seeing this place on several lists of top burger joints in NYC. Brief wait for a table and our server came over and was friendly and enthusiastic (so far). After perusing the menu, and also seeing plates coming out of the kitchen, my gf and I decided to split a burger since we both weren't starving. Before ordering I carefully checked the menu and saw nothing about sharing or per person minimum charges. Went ahead and ordered and the second the waiter heard we were splitting a burger his whole attitude changed and we got the cold shoulder for the rest of the meal. Since a burger is roughly $15 and since 20% is a usual tip these days, if he would have stopped to think about the situation, potentially he was out about $3 (unless he was also one of the owners), and in reality probably not even that much since if the service would have been normal I would have taken into account our order and tipped more than normal. But since in his eyes the customer isn't always right, he lost out, and so did the restaurant since now I'm less likely to want to return. Food was good by the way, but there are plenty of other places just as good with better help!

    fine with us

    we had good burgers/fries/onion rings/burger salad. Burgers were large and good. Service was quick and attentive. It's a casual dining place and is good for that kind of experience before the theater. A little noisy but what else is new in NYC restaurants. We would go back for this type of meal (agreed by all six of us eating there).

    The Carnivore's Dilemma

    Let me preface my comments by saying, I live in the neighborhood and have gone here 6 or 7 times since it has opened. Additionally, I really like the ambiance of the restaurant, its location, its friendly staff and energy. The problem is the burger. Each time except one the burger was not cooked as requested. Most of the time we requested medium well and occasionally just medium. Irregardless, the burger came back cooked rare- dripping red meat. Some of the times we asked the waiter to bring back to be cooked more. They were very obliging. I am frustrated because I like some of their other dishes- the lobster roll, frieds and salads and as mentioned earlier the actual, physical restuarant- but on the other hand I don't want to bring people here knowing that someone in my party will order the burger and such burger will not be cooked correctly....hence the title of this post..
