The burgers are just okay, and they are extremely expensive($15 for burger + fries). it's very loud and crowded inside. there are better burger places around.

Rushed service, so noisy you can't hold a conversation, very over-priced, average food not cooked to order. Why so crowded? Huh?

The food was excellent, the prices were good, and the service was fine. (I didn't have the rudeness problems other people had.) I ended up getting a turkey burger, but I had it made with one of their special recipes and it was amazing. Ambiance is a little loud, but overall a pleasant experience. Decent bottled beer selection too.

I completely agree with the last reviewer. I had a similar experience. I asked to sit outside at one of the empty tables. My wife and I recieved some muddled answer to the effect that they stop serving outside at x time. As it happened to be the cutoff time she indicated, I said alright. Then the hostess proceeded to seat 3 other parties outside even though it was past the time she indicated. A real head scratcher... As for the food- I have been there multiple times. My wife has asked for medium well twice and recieved dripping red rare cooked burgers. I think if they put burger in their name they should be able to cook them. The pluses-- tasty fries and and an incredible lobster roll. Deserts are fine too. Location is convenient and vibe is cool but for me if the service aint up to par, i wont go...

I have been a frequent visitor of 5 Napkin Burger since it opened, spending over $2,000 total there in the past. The experience I had last night has led me to never, ever, ever return and to make sure to tell all my friends what kind of smug, arrogant attitude I experienced. First, the food is pretty okay...nothing much better than you can get in the better diners in NYC or lower priced places. You should order your burger cooked a bit less than you really want, because they overcook the burgers. The decor, shakes, and interesting side items made this a former place to visit for me. However, as you will read below, I will not be revisiting. As for my specific experience, I went to 5 Napkin without a reservation (as I ALWAYS have EVERY SINGLE TIME) and the host tried to sit our party of 5 people at a booth for 4 (by placing a chair right in the middle of the traffic aisle) right next to the front door where constant traffic and bumping of my friend would happen. I scanned the floor and saw many tables open that would seat 5 or 6 people...but both the hostess and our server stated that they will NOT seat a party of 5 at a table for 6 so that they can fill each table fully. Literally within SECONDS of our party cramming into the small booth, a party of 5 was, indeed, seated at that table for 6 I saw. I immediately got up to speak to the manager, a gentleman in a nice suit. The manager made things even worse by telling me in the most matter-of-fact smug way, "we usually don't even try to seat parties without a reservation...there's no way I could sit you anywhere else." I told him, as a business owner and person who eats out on a regular basis, that I would have done everything I could to make the customer feel comfortable. He gave me a terrible, indifferent attitude that only someone who could care less about my business because his busy location insures a steady flow of tourists and one-time diners who don't mind poor service. He offered me absolutely nothing to calm my rational and real concerns except attitude...pretty much a "take it or leave it" attitude. I IMMEDIATELY LEFT the restaurant, leaving my 4 colleagues behind, as I could not in good conscience give them a red cent of my business after being treated so poorly.

Fist pumps, high fives, and bumps on the chest all around for 5 Napkin Burger in Midtown West. Although somewhat under the radar, 5 Napkin will leave you walking away hungry for more and an appetite for Gruyere cheese where ever you go next. Let's get right down to business with 10 0z. of fresh ground chuck, Comote or Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, and rosemary aioli known around these parts as the 5 Napkin Burger. The aioli was delicious and complimented the other toppings well but the melted Comote and onions took the cake. I have yet to see cheese melted as well as I did here tonight. I could have skipped the fries and ordered a side of melted madness with cheese and onions. I'm still curious as to why the name 5 Napkin? What's up with that? Maybe someone can figure this one out but only one napkin was needed for me after finishing my burger in 3 minutes flat.
