5 Napkin Burger
Posted by ken g on 11/25/2010
Ordered a house special burger medium rare, within in seconds received a well down burger, obviously not prepared to order. Enough grease to lube a car. The waiter did offer to replace it but what was the point. No standards here. Save your money and get a better burger at Carl's

First visit was on a Fri night around 7. Waited 45 minutes for a table for 4. We all ordered burgers. I had the lamb burger which was different and quite tasty. My friends rated theirs good to average. The side of fries was bland and fast-food like. Service was slow and inattentive...not surprising given the crowd. Overall, not worth the money and definitely not worth the wait.

I found nothing at all exciting or special about 5 Napkin in Hells Kitchen. The burger is huge but the taste is pretty plain. The fries were soggy too. The person I dined with ordered chicken tenders and they were also pretty average. You don't get nearly your money's worth at this place.

Overpriced. Check out some of the local pubs in the area for a burger that honors the meat.

Pretty amazing burger... get "the Original." Don't mess around - go for the best. Juicy, interesting and enjoyable flavors, the best burger I've had in a LONG TIME!!

I don't find myself in this part of town very much, but I would be happy to go back to 5 Napkin Burger if the opportunity arose. They have a nice and unusual beer selection, and the Original Burger came as advertised, large and very juicy. Lots of good flavor. It's a nice solid place to eat. Our waitress was a little overly perky, but I think tourists would find that appealing and tip accordingly.

I'd been avoiding this seemingly pretentious place like the plague since its opening. It seemed filled with all the types of people I can't stand to be around. But every time I walked by everyone looked so happy with their food! It was like I was being called by the Sirens to join then in the deep blue below... But I successfully resisted...until I was dining with a friend who has Celiac Disease. He really wanted a burger and knew that 5NB had ones that wouldn't kill him. So I put on my best 'tude jacket and we went. The lamb burger was tear inspiringly amazing. The 5NB Original made me call my mama and smack her over the phone. Once she took a whiff of what caused the assault, she turned around and smacked my papa. The fries are excellent (get some aoili on the side for dipping). We were plenty full and had no room for dessert. But I plan to try it again on a splurge day :-) Were a lot of the clientele pretentious? Yes. But its the epicenter of Hell's Kitchen. But the important thing is that the staff weren't pretentious, bitchy, or judgemental. They were great about accommodating my friend's gluten-free needs. They were SWAMPED but things came out relatively and cooked perfectly to order. SOOO....GO ALREADY!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOWWW!!!!!!! You can thank me later :-)
