5 Napkin Burger

Had lunch there today, and had the signature burger. Thought the rosemary overpowered everything not very subtle. The burger itself, ordered medium rare, had a uniform, grill-steamed texture, without any crunch on the outside or pink coloring on the inside, or really much taste on its own. The fries were terrific, as others here have mentioned. The waiter was friendly, and service was prompt. But the busboys kept trying to pour tap water into our glasses half full of sparkling water, at one point succeeding in doing so. The main point, though, is that if they bring me in on the basis of the burger, and want to charge $13.75 for it, it needs to be a lot better than this one.

Had a fabulous time and great meal at the burger place. The sushi was as good as any I've had. Loved the spicy margherita! A very fun atmosphere that has staff and management that clearly are there to please. As a non meat eater I was pleased to see the variety. The ahi tuna bueger was perfect. I look forward to visiting again.

Came here around 8p on a Friday nite w/my girlfriend- place was full - but only a 15-20 minute wait like they told us. Great selection of beers at the bar bartenders were friendly and attentive. Their signature 5 Napkin Burger is probably one of THE BEST burgers I've ever had in my life - never had rosemary on a burger- absolutely delicious! And their french fries were perfectly done - crispy and well seasoned. Our waiter was warm and friendly and would often check up on us to see if our meal was to our liking. Waitstaff was constantly refilling our water glasses. Although they have other types of food on the menu like sushi(!), if you're going to come here, come here for the Burgers! Go elsewhere if you want sushi - there's a ton of Japanese restaurants in the city and why order a veggie burger at a place that has meat hooks suspended on from the ceiling? Great decor, great atmosphere, great experience - would definitely come back and highly recommend this place!

I ate there last night and had the Five Fish Sushi, which is served without rice and wrapped in a cucumber, and it was very refreshing. The ahi tuna burger was huge, delicious, and moist. It is basically a yellowfin tuna steak on a bun with toppings, not ground or mixed with filler. It was perfectly prepared medium rare as I'd ordered wasn't dry like other yellowfin steaks I've had. The downside is that the interior is all glass, tile, mirrors, and concrete ceiling, which makes it very loud and echoey. It was hard to talk to my guests over the din of the room. They should consider some sound absorbing materials in the ceiling instead of all flat, smooth surfaces.

Very disappointed. For a place that bills itself as a big, greasy burger kind of place, the menu is really focused on other items. Take a lookthere are only 2 items on the menu that include beef on a bun! The service was great and the atmosphere was cool, but the music was way too loud and I felt like I paid way too much. Even the beer select]on disappointedit looked like it was designed to awe you with things you've never seen, but it missed on the basics. With plenty of better burgers less money within just a few blocks, I doubt I'll be back.

I have been there twice since it is has opened. Pros: First off, I really like the vibe. There is a plethora of energy but not overloaded. The numerous light bulbs hanging from the ceiling have an interesting effect. The bathroom area was really cool with an external sink- nice touch. The waitstaff was friendly and accomodating. The free refills on the soda was greatly appreciated. The fries are delicioso. Also, the booths- the seating was comfortable. Awesome expresso sundae! Lastly, the prices were reasonable for a midtown restaurant. In summary, I will definitely go back again with the hope that my burger experience was an isolated experience and try the other items on the menu as well. The cons: Why the blaring loud music in a place that is primarily a restaurant with a small bar area. Note to management: No one will complain if the music is softer so people can hear each other conversations. This is the biggest factor in preventing me from coming back more often. Also- the kitchen needs to get its act together, my dining partner and myself both ordered burgers. We requested medium. I recieved a burger that more like between rare and medium rare and my companion recieved a burger that was unacceptably uncooked inside. The waitress did take my companions burger back and they brought it back- still undercooked. I am chalking this up to rookie mistake. But if your core competency is burgers- be sure you know how to make them!

good bar service, good beer selection, good fries, very poor veggie burger.
