Although the menu doesn't state this, they can prepare most burgers gluten-free, including a gluten-free bun. I was told the fries are also gluten free and prepared in a dedicated frier. The burgers and fries are excellent, I only wish I knew earlier that they could do gluten-free.

Forget if you eat meat or not. This veggie burger is very unique and worth a try. When I bite into it I get a taste of hazelnuts and it the color of beets (minus the taste of beets). The 5 Napkin Sauce, that goes on top, goes with the burger perfectly. I like this burger on a salad just as much as I do on the bun. I never knew veggie burgers like this existed before. So good.

I have eaten here over 30 times since it opened on the upper west side. The food and service are always great, but, the last time I went there I was exteremely disappointed with how the manager handled a family with kids who were running around and disturbing other customers.

Amazing burgers, amazing salads, amazing apps, the best beer on tap [their 5 Napkin Nut Brown Ale]. The food is fresh and amazing. The size of drinks is huge. The service is very good. Just a little loud! A must go!

I randomly went in with a friend to get a to-go burger because a carnivore friend told me she goes there for the veggie burger. It's made from actual veggies (not soy protein) and doesn't fall apart. It's delicious! We sat at the bar and received our orders fairly promptly (and in brown paper bags). The only problem is finding out where we had to place the order. There were 3 very flustered people at the host station and none of them was able to even respond to me for a few minutes. The first response was a vague point and "over there". The second one was a much clearer "at the bar."

Love the burgers - and the beer selection is great too. Service though - come on - we've been there 4 or 5 times in the past couple of months and it's NEVER good - always waiting too long for someone to take a drink order. Two times, we've been still eating appetizers, and busboys have tried to put our entrees down on the table - a very basic no-no - I've had to actually ask them to bring it back after our apps are cleared. The problem is (I think) - way too many busboys (they circle like vultures waiting to clear your plates etc), and way too few waitstaff (hence a reason why it takes forever to give a drink order upon being seated). It's frustrating because it's a great burger - but someone there ought to actually 'manage' the waitstaff/busboys. Just a thought. Oh - and the '5 Napkin Makers Mark Manhattan'? WEAK - as in, not good at all, in too small of a martini glass, and felt strangely pre-mixed.

I've been to 5 Napkin Burger on 9th and the one on Broadway several times. I think the burgers are pretty good. I give them that. Recently, I decided to get carryout from the one on 84th and Broadway. I was given my meal in very thin plastic bag. I could feel some grease on the bag. Yes, that thin! what bothered me is they didn't even bother to give me a small brown bag. I asked the blond waitress ( I won't use her name since it's against Menu pages rules) if I could have a bag. she looks at me like I asked her to empty the cash register. Finally, I get a bag. I place my food in there and I just walk out. I still tipped however because a different waiter took my order. As I'm walking out she proceeds to taunt me. Speaking very loudly "Goodbye, you have a great day" In a very sarcastic voice. The fact that I simply asked for a bag in a calm tone and walked out did not warrant her behavior I will nevergo back. I felt very disrespected and she was very unprofessional. Thanks this rude bartender she ruined my 5 Napkin experience. I'm sure I can find a better burger in NYC.
