Cosy restaurant with great atmosphere
We decided to give 44 Southwest a try after reading the reviews and due to the fact our eldest daughter is vegetarian and the menu had a great selection. We were not disappointed! Lovely small but not cramped restaurant with great service and wonderful food. Great for family and couples - only downside was service added to bill and we were surprised how much! Although we probably would have tipped high anyway.

Always wonderful
I've eaten here a few times, always unplanned, and it's always been a surprising pleasure -- delicious food, lovely service, nice atmospher e-- not too noisy, and intimate. I also liked the fact that there are big dinner salads, which are hard to find in New York restaurants, so you don't have to eat all the potatoes and gravies and such if you're trying to watch your diet.

Our favorite place to eat in NYC
Discovered the place by accident in 2005. On a return visit to New York this year, we had to go back for dinner. Love the lasagna!

Amazing
I have lived in Hells Kitchen for over 7 years and this has been my favorite restaurant in the entire city. Always great food and the service is always friendly. When you want a great Italian "home cooked" meal, go to 44 Southwest. Always great to take friends and family.

Great Italian in the Theater District
A really wonderful marinara sauce makes the traditional Italian cuisine at this restaurant extremely tasty. Highly recommended.

My favorite restaurant in New York
This place is the best! I stumbled onto it one day while my parents were visiting. Now every time they come to New York, this is where they want to eat. I take my friends there all the time. The food is the BEST! And everyone there is so friendly!

A lovely little Italian nook
My husband and I go here at least 3 times a month. we stumbled upon it one day when seeing theater in the area, and have been "regulars" ever since. the food is great, the waitstaff is charming, and the bartender is now one of our good friends!! great wine, wonderful food, lovely atmosphere and a perfect location!!
