Close to the theaters, but just far enough away to avoid the Broadway tumult. The description of 44 Southwest, as Italian, Pizza is deceptive. It's definitely not a Pizza place, although it's available. Good selection of foods from veal to chicken to fish/seafood to pastas to salads. Very reasonably priced, service with a smile, ambiance very pleasant, reservations a good idea.

It's rare that all four of us agree on a restaurant, but this is one that both the meat-eaters and the vegetarian in our family will agree to go to - plus we take our out-of-town visitors for a NYC treat! We love this place!

I read the other review and knew immediately I had to post one of my own. 44 SW is one of my favorite restaurants. I love their salmon dish, the jumbo shrimp is also marvelous. The chicken cacciatore is the only thing on the menu I have ever had that I didn't love. The staff is friendly and the ambience is quite nice. Pre-theatre, reservations are necessary. And I must say, oddly, I was once told by a waitress there that they don't do refills on coffee - but I think she must have been new because I've never had a problem with that before. I couldn't disagree more with the "Bland Bland Bland" critique. 44 SW is a terrific restaurant and I highly recommend it!

Very nice staff. Good service but poor food. It was just as bland as warm water!
