not sure why people are complaining. the menu offers some great twists on classics without trying so hard that you're eating some crazy concoction that should never have seen the light of day. the service was very friendly as well. i've been here more than a few times and enjoyed myself and always look forward to see the new seasonal offerings that the chef offers.

NEVER AGAIN! I came on here to see if it was just me. Sad to say, it was not. My experience at this restaurant was practically identical to the last review. The food is great... WHEN YOU GET IT! The service is horrible. Its too pricey for service this bad.

The food is fine but the atmosphere and the service are terrible. Tables are so crowded together that you can't really move. The back patio area is covered with plastic to try and keep out the cold and has a heat lamp in the back. The tables under the heat lamp are stifling hot and you sweat while you eat. There is no level that can be set on them. When they go off, you are immediately flooded with the cold air coming in from under the plastic. Worse than that is the non-service at this restaurant. You will wait 20 or so minutes to get your drinks. Every time you order them, if you can find a waiter to take the order. We waited 45 minutes for appetizers and then, after they were cleared, we waited an hour and 10 minutes for the entrees. The owner, who seems to have a subtle disregard for his patrons, told us "there's a convention in town and the kitchen is overwhelmed." It's New York, there's always a convention in town. Now, reading other reviews, I find that his kitchen is usually overwhelmed - my experience was not atypical. The owner said he would comp our desserts but instead of someone taking the order, our dishes were cleared and 3 desserts we placed on the table. There were 7 of us dining. No waiter arrived to ask if we wanted coffee or after dinner drinks, and the server who delivered the desserts just stared at us blankly and walked away when asked about our waiter. A truly horrible dining experience. And it is very pricey so you shouldn't have to put up with incompetence. Never again.

Great duck ravioli (appetizer) and great lobster ravioli (entree). Excellent red wine ($9 glass). Very tasty lobster pot pie and steak. Some liked the fish dishes (salmon) others did not (halibut, halibut special, tilapia). Nice atmosphere, attentive service (there were 9 of us). Beautiful marble in restroom. Great location for dinner after a matinee.

The food isn't disappointing. Neither, despite the din, is the decor. But the service was abominable, bad enough to make me vow never to return. In a half-empty dining room it took well over an hour to get our main courses. The waiter (and it was hard to know who that was) kept disappearing at odd moments: like after serving two drinks but not the rest. They snatched away our bread plates presumably because the first course was coming, only it didn't. Disappointing experience.
