    Expensive, but worth it

Not feeling well today (if you are a NYer you know what the weather is like, not to mention the way people feel right now) I needed some soul food. Sarge's is my Jewish deli go-to, but since they closed after the fire, I needed a substitute tonight to bolster me up. I found it! Matzoh ball soup truly is the Jewish Penicillin, and the Hot Pastrami sandwich was great with a side of excellent potato salad. The Pastrami was packed separately from the Rye bread, and with Spicy Mustard and a little Russian dressing, I have no doubt that A) I will sleep better tonight, and B) I will feel better tomorrow. I an Episcopalian, but I am also a nearly 20 year NYer, so I know good Jewish deli, and love it! Recommended.

    Not recommended

I went to the E75th St location on Memorial Day @ 8pm. I ordered a pastrami on rye & a kasha knish. The restaurant was not crowded or rushed. The pastrami was cold, of indistinguishable taste & dry. The crust of the knish was hot & textured like cardboard; the inside was was cold, dry, crusty & tasteless and shouting that it had been "out" all day. I live in the neighborhood & will NOT return!

    It's just wrong

Seriously, $29 for chicken in a pot - with ONE matzo ball? Yes, the matzo ball was delicious, but the soup was plain and they're not overly generous with the chicken. Overall, it's just not worth that price.

    ordering in for football

I have never eaten a deli sandwich on "rye",the rye which tasted like Wonder Bread Actually two sandwiches: a dry turkey and tongue tip sandwich which cost us $25. the tuna, on my sandwich, was dark tuna with no seasoning. the delivery was 30 minutes later than the longest expected delivery t ime. And, we ordered a quart of matzoh ball soup and got a pint; go figure never again

    A Deli Experience

Wow! After trying the other delis in NYC, I found out that I saved the best for last. The food is just like my grandmother used to make (she would be happy that I was eating kosher). While grandma didn't charge me for the food, the 2nd Avenue Deli has the same prices as the other NYC delis.
