    Restaurant week visit

I dined here 7/20/06 for the pre fix restaurant week dinner. i was very pleased. there were 4- 5 options for all three courses, offering options for either fish, chicken, steak, or greens. the only disapointment was my main course was not hot, not cold but warm. other than that default, it was lovely. the atmoshphere was sophisticated but with an american edge due to the dim lighting and the collectible toys hung from the ceiling. our waiter was not only friendly but supplied great service. all in all i would and hope to return soon! Highly reccomendable!

    Great Old Standard

I have passed this restaurant many times, yet was too intimidated to enter. Went for lunch on 05/24/06 with a party of 8 and everyone in the group was pleased with their meal. Most ordered from the Prix Fixe menu for $33.00 for three courses. All food was beautifully presented and delicious. Service was wonderfully formal, yet not snooty. I had the classic chicken hash from the regular menu which was great comfort food. Pricey, but not intimidating. Arrived at Noon and left at 1:30 for the theater, but did not feel at all rushed. I will go back.

    Superb

Incredible. Excellent traditional dishes. Service is polite, attentive, and knowledgeable, without a hint of condescension. Desserts are particularly good. A little expensive ($160 for dinner for 1, including tip), but a meal that's simply unforgettable.

The food and service are the best I had

The food is excellent, the service is even better. Our server was very attentive. I spilled somthing on my cuff the waiter brought club soda and napkin right away with out me asking. the food was great. I had the Dover sole Sauteed, I would highly recommend it. 21 club was the highlite of my trip to New York

    World traveler visiting NYC

There was a small hassle getting reservations, but my greeting and service was to very high standards. Food was good and the price reflected eating at a restaurant where the "Great unwashed" would not be allowed in. A member of the party remarked "Waited 70 years to eat here after reading about it for my whole life." Wine list superb.

    Hidden deal at NYC Classic

I had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings...7 courses for $120pp. You have to ask for it. Food was all deftly prepared "classics" from the caviar to the mostly-crab crabcake to the risotto to the filet. A little intermezzo was surprising fruit soup. The wines which were chosen were fairly high quality, if not that inventive [Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc for example] Highly recommended for a special occasion.
