    Worth Every Penny

Where else can one get an order or French Fries and 12 clams for under $150 in NYC?

    Can't get enough

I have frequented this establishment on numerous occasions an am sad to say that I find myself ordering the same delicious items over and over thus not giving me a chance to sample some of their other creations. You cannot go wrong with the Tuna Tartare or the Lump Crab Meat Cocotail. The Steak Tartare and the Steak Diane cannot be replicated anywhere. DELICIOUS!

    Impeccable.

My husband took me to '21' for my 40th birthday dinner. It was just the two of us, and we went with full intention of splurging on a memorable evening of classy dining. We were not disappointed! I have never experienced such amazing service and attention to details within that service before. Just the small things, like perfect timing for the different courses to come out in relation to the wines we had chosen, made all the difference. The food was divine, the wine beyond compare, (a 1990 Clinet as recommended by the Sommelier), and service which really made us feel like royalty.

    read my review

Sour reviews? I am astounded. First of all, these people that are writing these reviews are 'restaurant week' people and they do not know what they are talking about. My family and I have been coming to this place for close to 20 years. It is neither pretentious nor any of these other things these unexposed guys are describing. The entrance is warm, hospitable and classy. The service is very attentive and the entire staff is there to make you feel like it is your second home. Do I get a little extra handshake for coming there for so long?. Probably so, however, I have never witnessed any guest being treated poorly or to feel inadequate. Ever. This is still a wonderful Old New York institution that will be here for generations.

    Delicious!

It is a grand tradition of New Yorkers to partake in a fine dining frenzy during Restaurant Week. My best friend and I must have eaten in 6 restaurants over 10 days and we agree that the 21 Club was definetly the best. They didn't treat us like sub-par diners because we ordered off the Rst Wk menu and the food was delicious (and a good portion too). I had a very tasty gazpacho (it actually didn't taste like a bowl of salsa), perfectly cooked pasta with fresh veggies and blueberry pie (I could have licked the plate). They even gave us each a card to come back for free drinks! We had such a good time and will definitely be back.

    Pretentious

Made lunch reservations for Restaurant Week but when we arrived we were told to have a seat and wait. I was wearing work attire but my friend wore plaid golf shorts and slingbacks. The host gives her a once over before telling us to wait, then comes back as we are waiting and tells us shorts are not acceptable. I understand if it were khaki shorts or another type but I didn't think golf shorts were inappropriate. SUCH a pretentious place!! I've been there before for dinner and the food was mediocre and unmemorable, definitely not worth the price. There are many better restaurants in the city that do allow shorts!! BTW, there is a Bloomberg computer in the waiting area, as if people direly needed to check stock quotes during lunch (while waiting for a seat!!). PRETENTIOUS!!

Quirky decor, ok food, good service

I was seated at the bar area (lunch time), which has little natural lights, a low ceiling with model trucks and planes all over. The service was fine. The crowd was elderly. The flavors in the food were not complex. The ingredients were fine, but I didnt sense any top notch culinary invention. The portions were large. Their bread basket and the butter were divine. I ordered a salmon tartare, a salmon fillet and a creme brulee.
