Great atmosphere and meal but overpriced

We went here for my birthday brunch and were happy with the food and atmosphere but disappointed with the service. They completely gave me the wrong order, which I ended up keeping because it looked good and I wanted to eat with my fiance. The drinks were very tasty but so expensive. Overall 2 entrees, 2 coffees, 2 cocktails came to $60 plus tax and tip and they couldnt even get the order right. The service was in LA LA land and we even had to get our milk and basically go to the bar to get the waitstaff's attention. Overal, it was a good meal and it is a cool place, but if you dont have the loot and want to be served at a high level dont come. Great bday brunch though.

    What a great spot

I went to 202 with some friends on a Friday night. Very cool setup for a restaurant. The food was very good, and the drinks were amazing. Apparently, they are known for their brunch, but their dinner was delicious. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. And the specialty drinks are out of this world. They are filled with alcohol, but you can't taste it. Good times all around Definately worth the trip. I will be going back soon.

    Hit the Spot!

After traveling from Florida and shopping most of the day in Chelsea, we explored the Chelsea Market only to find this unique restaurant. Had a slight difficultly finding the front door, but once in, it was great! We sat outside on the street, and enjoyed Sweet Corn Chowder and an amazing Summer Squash Risotto! Our waiter paired our dinner with a lovely Savingoun Blanc from New Zealand! (Great wine selection by the way....loved that there was even one from Greece!) Never made it to dessert, but from what I've heard it's to die for! It was exactly what we were looking for after a long day! Will definetly be back next year!!

    try the desserts...any of them!

I have become a regular at 202 because of their lamb burger and all their deserts and pastries. The scones! the chocolate mouse! the homeade ice cream! the tarts! the cookies! I'm addicted, and they have a takeout counter for the pastries too, which only fuels my addiction. oh and the drink "titanic" is a must. Only complaint is not all the chairs are comfortable, some are a little to delicate. also some sundays past 1pm can be crowded.

    definitely recommend

I went to 202 for brunch with 4 other people & everyone basically licked their plates clean. the pancakes & fried green tomatoes were excellent. it's a nice that after you finish eating you can stroll through the Chelsea Market & pick up some delicacies.

Good food if you get what you order

Had a decent lunch at 202. Its a little weird eating in a clothing store. The seats were rickety and not very comfortable. I ordered a salad which was supposed to have figs. The waitress told me the figs were out of season and they were substituting grapes. Sorry Im not paying for figs and getting grapes. So I ordered a salad that was supposed to have field greens, pears, fennel, pomegranate and toasted pistachios. When it came it was field greens, pears, cucumbers, dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds. It appears that theyre either cutting corners by substituting other items or theyre just too lazy to update their menu and figured I couldnt tell the difference between fennel and cucumbers. Either way I paid a premium ($14) for a salad that probably shouldnt cost more than $9. It was a good salad though.

    Great Brunch

Have not been since late April '06, but returning next weekend. Sounds like some competitors commenting recently as all was superb last visit. Buen provecho. J
