    great neighborhood place

12 Chairs has great "tastes-like-homemade" food. I live 2 blocks away and go often. Don't know if I'd travel to it if I didn't live close by....it's a great neighborhood place. The waitstaff is very friendly and professional.

    Anything but authentic israeli food

The Moroccan Spicy fish was not spicy at all - dull and bland. Although the fish quality was good. The jachnun was definitely frozen and microwaved. Overall very disappointing but service was good.

    Favorite Brunch Spot in Soho

I love breakfast all day any day and I especially love a place that can make it as good as 12 Chairs. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and come here when we get a craving for really good food without the attitude. The food is consistently amazing. I've tried every one of the omelets and they're all great...I'd say my fav. is probably the Greek Omelet or the Salmon one. My husband loves their blueberry pancakes...no one else does them quite like this...smaller but much thicker than most with a hint of lemon zest and something like whole wheat flour perhaps and loads of plump blueberries (always fresh and sweet even during the out of season months). Their salads and light zesty vinaigrette is great, their burger is amazing and they have many sandwiches, traditional greek and vegetarian options we have yet to try. Many people seem to love their homemade mint lemonade (made with actual mint leaves in your water glass). We both also really love their side of homefries and bottomless coffee and the service has always been fantastic even when the place is packed during their busy brunch hours. If you want to try it during a down time...go for a weekday dinner or when the weather is bad (like now)...the first sign of snow and this neighborhood gets like a ghost town (which is great if you want to try a usually packed out restaurant all to yourself).

    Simple Outside, Varied Inside

With heavy dark wood tables, simple white walls with pictures of various things, and large open windows, 12 chairs is a simple-looking, clean, pleasant place with polite, friendly servers...and varied types of food. Mixing the best of Russia and Israel, the menu has a variety of flavors and types, with decent prices. The night I went, I tried a sort of veal ravioli, about $10. The portion was adequate but by no means large. A basket of bread, however, helped to balance it all out. The meat within the pasta was -very- flavorful and tasty. Unfortunately the pasta itself had boiled too long and was mushy. Had it been a bit ...less watery, it would have been phenomenal no doubt. In any event, nice place, be good for a group with varied taste buds.
