Amazing Schnitzel !
The schnitzel is amazing specially with the honey mustard dressing! A soho true value restaurant.

Just like eating in the Holy Land
This place is awesome! Once you walk in there and smell the food you know you're in for a treat, and if you are from Israel by any chance, it feels like you walked into a restaurant back home. The hummus and baba ganoush are so good you eat too much of them before getting a big plate with you entree. But, somehow, you find a way to make room for your main order, whether is is the moroccan style fish or the russian style perogies. You will need to go there very hungry in order to have even a small dessert, but they are all delicious and light (compared to the meal) and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a cafe in Tel Aviv or Haifa. I would go there every day if I lived close by (and could afford to eat out regularly).

Finally
I love the simplicity of this place, just twelve tables and good food. No blaring music, no lighting, or mirrors, just good food at a fair price. What a concept!

Not a Russian place, although the name resembles Russian comic tale of XXth century
They have few Russian authentic dishes of medium quality. Very odinary place for NYC

Can't accommodate ANY substitutions!
The food at 12 chairs is great, and it's a cute little spot, but they are 100% unaccommodating about substitutions! I'm not talking about the "I'm going to rework your whole menu" type either, I'm talking about the Food Allergy type where you're willing to be charged extra rather than be nervous about what you're getting - they absolutely won't allow it! Geeze, learn to bend a little!

I wanted to love this place...
So cute from the outside, a good menu, reasonably priced, and the food is actually pretty good -- sabich sandwich in particular is great, as well as the spreads served w/the complimentary bread, but the service was poor! This was the kind of service that ruins your night. The kitchen wasn't slow, just took forever for the waitress to acknowledge us, then forever to bring menus, same w/break etc, all the while you can see the waitress chit chat-ing or doing other tasks in a super inefficient way. Was incredibly frustrating. So perhaps do take-out?

Great Hummus & pitas
Perfect pita! Israeli, middle eastern and some eastern European comfort food. Easy no rush atmosphere.
