Happy to have good food, finally!
It's nice to finally have a restaurant downtown that, without pretense, serves, good, well-crafted food. The wine list is small but well edited. It's not particularly creative or innovative food but most everything on the menu is well executed and tasty, which for a place I plan to eat at a few time a month, is exactly what I want. It kind of reminds me of Le Zinc, which I really liked, when it was around...(the vibe and all)

What's all the fuss about?
Having read the raves here, I was underwhelmed and frankly a bit disappointed by dinner here last Saturday. First, despite a reservation, the restarurant kept us waiting nearly 40 minutes for our table, which wouldn't have been so aggrivating, except the entryway and bar space are poorly laid out, making for a very uncomfortable wait. The meal, then, was really nothing to write home about. Duck was bland, "crispy" bass was undercooked, a parsnip puree tasted like whipped potatoes. Dessert, an indulgent chocolate souffle, was the highlight of the meal, but by then much of our group was basically over the place. The wine list is limited, the space deafeningly loud during peak hours, and the service relatively slow. We may have just hit the place on an off night, but my take away was that one can do better in this city.

Simply Divine
I never give marks this high yet I find that 10 Downing deserves them. Amazing space, the staff is very attentive, the food is downright heaven on earth. Very cool upscale clientele. Inventive menu. Reasonable price- great value for what you get, whichis the whole package!

Great New Restaurant!
My husband and I really enjoyed dinner. Great location with nice oversized windows that overlook the street. Food was delicious (brussel sprouts appetizer, I had the fluke and my husband had the gnocchi). Fluke was very flavorful. Enjoyed the gnocchi but it tasted more like potato and less like pasta. The chocolate souffle was the best I've ever had!! No cappuchinos or lattes - thought that was strange. We will definitely be back though!

Fantastic new restaurant
Went with a friend to 10 Downing this evening and it was a totally fantastic experience all round. The food was delicious, from the warm rolls they brought at the start, my friend's fantastic brussels sprouts with poached egg starter - and my main course of gnocchi with wild mushrooms and butternut squash was out of this world. Even the side of garlic chard was really good - the portions were not massive but actually just right and left me plenty of room for the wonderful melting chocolate fondant cake for dessert. The check, when it came, was surprisingly small - and the waiting staff could not have been nicer. I can't wait for a return visit!

great addition to the neighborhood!
After trying 10 Downing for the first time, I immediately had to add it to my list of favorites. It was a wonderful experience- the food, service and ambiance. In fact, the only thing I could complain about is the closeness of the tables but at that point, I'm obviously being too nitpicky! There is no question I will be back.
