    Great bar or restaurant

Great staff - Grits are delish! Great wine list. I really like this place. Good for business or for a date. Sit outside when it is warm!

    Overcooked Ribeye

Very unimpressed with my Ribeye cut. Ordered medium rare, came out overcooked and fatty. May be the worst I've had at a restaurant in NYC. And overpriced for what I got. Oh well. Live and learn....

    Overpriced and disappointing

The only decent part of the tasting menu was the potato leek soup. The sweet shrimp entree was awful-- a few of the shrimp were not totally peeled and they were all overcooked. The composition of the dish just didn't make sense nor did it taste very good. The two desserts the table ordered were terrible: an inedible chocolate cake and donut holes which were burnt on the outside and totally raw inside. The waitress was awful and did not pay attention to our table in the least. Save your money and go elsewhere. I wish I had.

    Save yourself the trip

Should have listened to all the negative reviews. The service was horrific matched with buttery, salty and overpriced food. One waiter on the entire floor (on a Friday night nonetheless). The wait staff acknowledged the poor service, however it simply did not compensate for the unenjoyable night that was felt by all.

worst meal in a long time

This was probably the most disappointing food I have ever had the displeasure of ingesting. I didn't want to be rude so I made no comments while there but I couldn't even eat the food. Such poor quality. Started with a shaved salad which was dry, bland, and mixed with both over cooked and uncooked veggies. The poached shrimp entree with Gnocchi was so gross. The shrimp wasn't even de-veined and it tasted horrible and was overcooked. The dessert was over processed junk food in the form of a mexican chocolate torte that was SO dense that a fork couldn't go through it. I'm just happy that it wasn't my money paying for this meal. I'll never return. Diners beware!

    Good food but pricey!

The menu is small but have good choices, the food overall is good but not great. At the end you pay a lot for a nice atmosphere, which is why the place stands for, and not for a great meal. Portions are very small. The dessert was really good but also very small.

Ignore all complaints: A GREAT value

I am shocked (SHOCKED!) at the negative reviews I found below. This place is an enormous value, by NYC standards. My meal ranged from very good to fantastic, and at $49 for a four-course tasting (of your choosing from the entire menu), cannot be beat. While I was not blown away by the tarragon-wheatberry porridge with poached egg that was my first course, it was certainly well-prepared, with a nice chewiness in the wheatberries. The second course, an ahi/hamachi tartare with sesame oil, was lovely and even slightly innovative. My third course, the suckling pig (served with a crisped-skin topping was wonderful, and accompanied by a spicy cabbage salad that was a brilliant accompaniment to the rich pork. And everyone at my table loved the salt-caramel and chocolate-banana ice creams. This is a terrific restaurant, worth a visit. The service is a little spotty (but apologetic when things are off), the atmosphere is quite nice, and the food is (relatively speaking) cheap and delicious. High reccomentdations.
